Integrated Educational city
for the Footballers' students
1. The Project Objectives:
- Most of the sporty students in Egypt face a problem in
balancing between their education and practicing their
sports, in a phase of their educational life this problem
forces them into choosing between the early retirement
from their sports to focus on their education, or into
focusing on their sports and neglecting their education.

- this city would be available for the Footballers' students

to live in it throughout the whole educational year joining
its school beside practicing Football in its Football Centre,
all of that in organized and coordinated schedules between
their studying schedules and their trainings times.

- therefore, these students can continue in both tracks at

the same time without neglecting their education or their
sport in any phase of their educational life.

- this city would not depend on the student’s economic

level nor on where this student is from in Egypt, it would
be available for all the Footballers' students whatever their
economic level and wherever they are from in Egypt.

4
2. The Project Location:
- Nasr City, Cairo

Area = 21000 sq.m

= 5 Fedans

5
3. The location selection and the
geographical context:
- Nasr City is a home to many socioeconomic strata and
it has a lot of important premises like,
o the Cairo International Conference Center
o The General Organization For International Exhibitions
& Fairs
o Ministry of Manpower and Immigration
o Panorama October
,and several government buildings
- It is an overpopulated place and a virtual place plus it
can be reached easily from a lot of places in Cairo using
cars, buses or Metro.
- The selected location for the project is surrounded by
some sporty places like,
o the covered Halls Complex
o Cairo international stadium
o some secondary playgrounds
o the swimming pools complex
o Nasr city sporting club
,so it would be an attraction point for the footballer
students who visit these places to join like these school
for better educational life beside practicing football.
- It is also close to two Metro stations (Stadium metro
station & Fair zone metro station) so it can be reached
easily from most of places in Cairo.

6. Design Fundamentals:

6.1 Educational Part…

The Main Spaces:
- Classes:
- The average Areas of the classes spaces:
- The dimensions of the classes are determined
according to the expected number of occupancy of the
classes area taking into consideration several
requirements:
1) A specific area 1.2 sq.m is assigned for Every
student
2) No class density is more than 35 students
3) The class Area equals at least 45 sq.m
4) In egypt, the minimum area of the class is 50
sq.m
5) The paths in the class should be wide enough
to protect the students from any clash
between them
6) The distance between the first desk and the
board is 2 m at least
7) The distance between the last desk and the
board is 7:9 m at most
8) The height of the class is 3.2 m at least to
provide the class with enough light and
ventilation
- Administrative Part:
-its Elements...
- The manager office:
1) its Area should be between 20 sq.m and 30
sq.m
2) It should be close enough to the school main
entrance
- Secretary room:
1) its Area should be between 20 sq.m and 24
sq.m
2) It should be close enough to the Manager
room

17
6. Design Fundamentals:

6.1 The Educational Part…

The Main Spaces
- Teachers room:
1) Its width should be enough for the teachers
number
2) It should be close enough for the classes to
observe the students
3) Every floor of the school should has a teacher
room
4) its Area should be between 20 sq.m and 25 sq.m
- Music room:
1) It should be far enough from the classes
2) It should has acoustical treatments
3) It can has a storage room for the instruments
4) its Area should be between 30 sq.m and 45 sq.m
5) It is targeting at most 35 student
- labs:
its Areas should be between 40 sq.m and 50 sq.m

6.2 The Sports Part…

- A guide for Football Fields Areas:

18
6. Design Fundamentals:

6.3 The Public Parking…

The Requirements of land use and activities for the
public parking's…
The number and type of parking's depends on the
land use and the type of activity. The number of
vehicles required for each use varies according to the
special rates and the lifestyle of the citizens, which is
reflected in the rate of ownership of the cars.

The rates of accommodation for cars are calculated

for each use as follows…
For schools:
5% from each waiting space for each student
(including teaching staff)
For Dormitories:
6% from each waiting space for each dorm
room
For Medical Buildings:
1.2% from each waiting space for each 1 sq.m of
the Total Area of the building
For the sports Centers:
45% from each waiting space for each 100 sq.m
of the Total Footprint Area of the Center
For the Administration Buildings:
1 waiting space for each 25 sq.m from the Total
Footprint Area of the Building

The waiting space dimensions for each car = 3 m * 6 m =

18 sq.m
The waiting space dimensions for each Bus = 3.5 m * 12.5
m = 42 sq.m

7.1 Tongji Affiliate Elementary
School

Architects: Atelier Liu Yuyang Architects

Location: Antingzhen, Jiading, Shanghai, China
Area: 26200.0 m2
Project Year: 2016

20
7.1 Tongji Affiliate Elementary
School
- Tongji Experimental Elementary School project consists
of:
o teaching buildings
o administration building
o a canteen
o a gym
o and elevated passages

- classrooms, offices and a sports space are connected

in series through courtyards of different scales and
different kinds of enclosures according to functional
demands.
- The design of the architectural ensemble as well as its
buffer spaces are well integrated into the townscape.
-The program of school accommodates a wide
spectrum of dynamics, thus the focus of design is to
explore variations and possibilities in spatial relations.
The design team fully considered the psychosomatics of
teachers and students to help decide the sequences of
openness and enclosure, suppression and release.
- Open courtyards, passages and sports fields are
orchestrated to achieve a sense of depth and
cheerfulness.

Location: Togane, Chiba Prefecture, Japan
Area: 30.168 m2
Project Year: 2016

25
7.2 iHouse Dormitory
This dormitory is for 140 international students
efficiently houses, educates, and integrates a population
that is both culturally and economically diverse through
a collection of shared public spaces and rooms that
range from singles and doubles with private baths, to
rooms sleeping four with shared bathing facilities.

- The most conspicuous material is the aluminum louver

that makes up the south façade. We used horizontal
louvers with three different dimensions. They are
attached each with the maximum cantilever from the
vertical support to create a woven pattern to comprise a
unified façade to the public, and shaded walkways with
a dynamic play of light for the inhabitants.
