PHILIPPINE DRAMA

Philippine drama is a play in prose that


centers on Filipino characters and situations
which centers on current issues. It includes
romantic drama that focuses on love on
family story, drama simboliko highlights
political issues, and the comedy which uses
any kind of plot in order to create a situation
that will make people laugh.
THEATER COMPOSITION

Theater composition is a theaterical


dramatic gestures, actions or behaviors,
performance or play that combines songs,
spoken conversation, dance and drama.
MUSICAL THEATER

A musical theater combines spoken


dialogue, songs, acting and dance. It has a
variety of themes such as love, courtship,
adventure and war. Its purpose is to inform
and to entertain the audience.

Forms of Komedya
(Secular) MORO-MORO

A Type of Secular Komedya that was


popular in the 1600’s. Stories revolve
around kings, queens, princes, princesses,
animals and supernatural beings. It is
believed to be an offshoot of chivalric –
poem called Awit and legendary religious
poem called Corrido. Most of the time, the
theme of the play depicts battles between
the Christians and Moros.
ZARZUELA

Zarzuela was introduced by


the Spaniards during the
1800’s. The theme of
zarzuelas is usually about
the social, cultural, political
and economic issues of the
Filipinos. It is a play with
songs and dances where
dialogues are mostly sung.
