Line
 In painting and sculpture, it represents
figures and forms.

 In any work of art, lines may either be


straight or curved.

 Horizontal lines – calmness, quiescence


 Vertical lines – action, poise, balance,
exaltation and dynamism
 Diagonal lines – life and movement

 Color has the most aesthetic appeal.
 Color is a property of life.
 The color of the sun contains all the colors

blue, indigo and violet.
Hue
– is the dimension of color that gives color its
name.
Value
– is a quality which depends on the amount of
light and dark in color.
 Tint – are values above the normal.
 Shade – are values below the normal.

Pink is a tint of red.

Maroon is a shade of red.

Sky blue is a tint of blue.

Intensity
– refers to the brightness and darkness. The
more black or white is added, the weaker the
intensity becomes.

Texture
 It is an element that deals more directly

Elements of Music
1. Rhythm - it is the variation of length and
accentuation of a series of sound.

 Beat – in music, it is the most fundamental


component.

 Meter – is the arrangement of rhythm. It is


also the way beats are grouped and
measured.
2. Melody – it refers to pitches and tones
sounded one after another in a logical and
meaningful series.

3. Pitch – it indicates the highness and


lowness of sound.
* The slower the vibration, the lower the pitch
and the faster the vibration, the higher the
pitch.
 Interval – is the relationship of one pitch to
another.
 Sequence – is the pattern of intervals that are
repeated at a different pitch.

4. Harmony – refers to the sound combination in


which we add subordinate sounds to enhance the
quality of the main sound.
 Chord – the combination of two or more tones
sounded at the same time.
a. Concord – the chord that seems to produce an
impression of agreeableness.
b. Discord or Dissonance – tones produced seem to
disagree.

entertainment e.g. waltz, swing, foxtrot,

3. Theatrical dances – e.g. ballet, modern
dances, musical comedy dances, and tap

dance.

2. Design – is the pattern of movement in


time and space.

3. Movement – includes steps, gestures of the


arms, hands, and body, and facial
expression.

4. Technique – is the skill of movement

7. Choreography – refers to the figures and


steps in dancing that enable the dancers to
perform in an organized manner.
Literature
- It is one of the arts that expresses human
feelings.
Classification of Literature
1. Escape literature – is for entertainment purposes.
It enables us to temporarily forget our troubles.

2. Interpretative literature – enables us to


understand our troubles.

*The object of scape literature is pleasure


while the object of interpretative is pleasure
plus understanding
Uses of Literature
1. To impart moral values
2. As a propaganda
3. To provide therapeutic help

1. Plot – it is the sequential arrangement of relative
events

2. Characters

3. Point of View – refers to the manner in which the


story is told.

4. Setting – it could be a locale or place where the


event or action took place

5. Theme – refers to the message communicated by


the story

6. Irony – it is a contrast among what is seems and
what is and could be.

7. Symbolism – refers to something that is more than


what it is in reality.

8. Style – it refers to the total carrying out of the


short story
