Bird

What Is Birds?
 Birds, also known as Aves, are a group of endothermic
vertebrates, characterised by feathers, toothless beaked
jaws, the laying of hard-shelled eggs, a high metabolic
rate, a four-chambered heart, and a strong yet
lightweight skeleton. They rank as the world's most
numerically-successful class of tetrapods, with
approximately ten thousand living species, more than
half of these being passerines, sometimes known as
perching birds. Birds have wings which are more or less
developed depending on the species; the only known
groups without wings are the extinct moa and elephant
birds.
Types of Beaks
 1. Meat Eater
 Carnivorous birds -- often called raptors --
make up a large portion of all bird species.
Eagles, hawks, falcons and others are active
hunters, eating everything from fish, to rodents,
to carrion, to other birds.
 2. Seed Eater
 The seedeaters are a form taxon of seed-eating
passerine birds with a distinctively conical bill. ... A few
"atypical" seedeaters are closely related to certain
tanagers, many of which (such as the flowerpiercers)
have peculiarly adapted bills. In addition, there are some
African passerines called seedeaters.
 3. Fruit and Nut Eater
 Fruit-eating birds also like to eat nectar.
Most fruit-eating birds have a sharp beak,
so they can 'dig' deeper in the fruits.
There are no fewer than 230 species of
hummingbird.
 4. Nectar Feeder
 Nectar-feeding is widespread among birds, but
no species consumes nectar exclusively. Most
combine it with insectivory for a mixed diet. Of
particular interest are three lineages of
specialized nectarivorous birds: the
hummingbirds (Trochilidae), sunbirds
(Nectariniidae) and honeyeaters (Meliphagidae).
 5. Fish Eater
 Fish-eating birds. Many birds eat seeds
and insects and some birds mainly like to
eat fish, such as the Grey Heron with its
long neck and long legs.
Types of Feet
 1. Perching Feet
 Feet: Perching. Most small songbirds are also
called perching birds or passerines. Their feet
are typically small and have no feathers.
Songbird feet have three toes pointed forward
and one toe pointed backward.
 2. Walking And Running Feet
 Most Small Birds move about on the around by
hopping, and larger birds walk or run. Walking
Birds such as pheasants, have strong feet with
short toes. Fast Runners, such as ostriches, have
compact hoof life feet and long, muscled legs
that help them run at great speeds.
 3. Webbed Feet
 The webbed foot is a specialized limb present in
a variety of vertebrates to aid in locomotion.
This adaptation is primarily found in semi-
aquatic species, and has convergently evolved
many times across vertebrate taxa. It likely
arose from mutations in developmental genes
that normally cause tissue between the digits to
apoptose
 4. Gripping Feet
 Gripping feet. The feet of birds of prey, such as
eagles, sparrowhawks, and ospreys, have sharp
talons (sharply hooked claws) that they use to
grip and kill prey. An eagle uses its strong grip to
carry heavy prey below its body and away from
its wings, so that it can fly.
