- This industry has grown steadily in the past year,

fueled by a huge increase in text messaging
services. The rise of short message services (SMS)
has catapulted the Philippines as the text capital of
Asia. The popularity of SMS grew, thus dominating
mobile network traffic.

namely: Smart, Globe Telecoms, and Sun Cellular.
Smart is a Philippine Long Distance Telephone
Company(PLDT) subsidiary. Globe is an Ayala

importation of materials. About 95 % of the
materials that are compounded here are imported.
The country just manufactures these medicines
which are developed in other countries.

Laboratories (Unilab). It is followed by
GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer. Despite the dominance
