Purpose and Hypothesis
• Purpose of this research are to determine the appearance of
agronomic characters from the results of Double-crosses and to
estimate the heterosis value of F1 by comparing with parents.

• Hypothesis
1. There are F1 have superior characteristics in agronomic
characters.
2. There are heterosis values that show a positive of F1
watermelon compared to parent.

Method
The study was carried out by an experimental method based Augmented
design. The treatment are 16 genotypes of watermelon plants consisting of 12
tested F1 genotypes and 4 checks, the genotypes to be tested will be spread into 3
blocks and four checks will be planted on each block, so there are 24 experimental
units. from each experimental unit consists of 7 plants with a spacing of 40 cm per
hole.
Variable :
1. Ratio of leaf length/width 6. Fruit Length 11. Hardness of Fruit flesh
2. Length of main stem 7.Fruit Width 12. Number of seed
3. First female flower appear 8. Fruit ratio Length and width 13. Seed length
4. Fruit Weight 9. Number of fruits per plant 14. Weight of 100 seed
5. Rind Thickness 10. Suluble solid content

Data Analysis
The data analysis using analysis of variance (ANOVA) for
augmented design at 5% level. If there any significant value in the
analysis of variance then proceed using the Tukey test (HSD) at 5% level
.Estimating heterosis values using mid-parent heterosis and high-parent
heterosis methods.
