trumpet so that the bell points straight forward
• Your head should not be pushed back or tilted forward.
BLOWING TECHNIQUE

• You have to take a deep breath and with your lips lightly closed,
you need to exhale steadily.
• Ensure that you do not puff out your cheeks and try to steady
your lips remain in the same lightly closed position.
• Carefully place your lips on the mouthpiece of the trumpet and
blow the air without exerting much pressure to it.
• To get a higher pitch, you have to blow with more power, and if
you want the low sound pitch, you just have to blow without
exerting too much pressure or force.
HOW TO HOLD THE TRUMPET

 Thumb in between 1st and 2nd valve casings or in front of 1st valve
casing.

 Index-, middle- and ring-fingers to the valves (finger buttons).

Left hand
• Thumb on the 1st valve slide
• Index, and middle fingers behind the 3rd valve casing.
• Ring finger in the 3rd valve slide ring.
• Little finger under the 3rd valve slide.
HOW TO BLOW INTO THE
MOUTHPIECE/TRUMPET
• Making the correct mouth shape with your lips and teeth
• Practicing with a mouthpiece not attached to a trumpet
HOW TO BLOW

• When playing a trumpet you can change the sound it produces

just by how your lips vibrate when blowing-no fingers required.
To produce low notes, vibrate your lips slowly; the higher the
note you want to play, the quicker you will need to vibrate your
lips. When you are blowing be sure not to press the mouthpiece
firmly to your lips.
