Efficient use of Paper Rule

Why the Rule
• To produce 500 reams of paper, 20 trees are cut and 100,000 liters of
water are used. Water that is no longer reusable because it is laden
with chemicals and is just released to the environment to poison our
rivers and seas.
Applicability
• All courts and to all quasi-judicial bodies under the administrative
supervision of the Supreme Court
Format and style
• All papers intended for the court’s consideration and action
• Single space with one-and-a-half space between paragraphs, using an easily
readable font of the party’s choice
• 14 font size
• 13-inch by 8.5-inch white bond paper

• Margins
• Left hand margin: 1.5 inches from the edge
• Right hand margin: 1 inch from the edge
• Lower margin: 1 inch from the edge
• Every page must be consecutively numbered
Copies to be filed
• SC – one original copy (properly marked) and 4 copies.
• En Banc – 10 additional copies
• Annexes
• Division – two sets of annexes
• En Banc – two sets also
• All members of the court are to share the copy of the annexes

• CA – one original and two copies with annexes

• CTA – one original and two copies with annexes


• En Banc – one original and 8 copies

• Other courts – one original with stated annexes attached to it.

• Adverse party (annexes)


• No need to serve if under the record the adverse party has already a copy of the annex to be served.
