sake of the Good News will save it.
However scandalous it may seem, by the 4th
century A.D., the original biblical meaning of the
term “gospel” was lost.
What “gospel” did Jesus preach at the start of His
ministry? Mark 1:14…that first came to Abraham?
Galatians 3:8…was also preached in the days of
Moses? Hebrews 3:16-4:2…was known by John the
Baptist before he baptized Jesus? Luke 3:18…and
later was preached by Jesus’ disciples, prior to
knowing their Rabbi would go to the cross? Luke 9:6.
 Each verse references preaching of a “gospel”
that could not have possibly been “the story of the
death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.”
 After more than a millennium, the “‘gospel’ of the
kingdom” has been identified once again.. ***

 Historical Christianity” was originally a faith movement within Judaism,
wherein a group of Jewish disciples followed and. Continuing in the
spirituality of Moses, Jesus taught adherents how lived by the teachings of
the Rabbi Yeshuah, (Jesus)to embrace divine empowerment from God by
entry into the kingdom.
 His followers recorded these teachings in the Koine Greek Scriptures.
 Jesus was not understood by the religious establishment of His time and was
crucified. Nevertheless, the faith movement grew. Initially the scriptures
served posterity to lead them into the wonders of the kingdom of God.
 However, the characteristics of the movement changed markedly in the first
300 years. In the 1st century A.D., the Hebraic Faith Movement that began
with Abraham reached its apex about 50 years after the death of Jesus and
was labeled “Christianity.”
 By the 4th century A.D., Christianity had completed its transition from what
originated as an Eastern minded Hebraic faith tradition, and then developed
later into a Western thinking, Aristotelian, Gentile religious movement.
Like a tree severed from its root, the latter group was no longer dominated by its
original constituency. Christians who were filled with antipathy for the Jews,
redefined a new religious identity largely through interpretation of Koine Greek
sacred texts that were composed much earlier in the 1st century A.D. Upon these, a legalistic reductionistic interpretational method was imposed in order to derive doctrinal formulations, religi ous creeds and a new order of sacramental worship; a system of praxis far removed from the concerns of their disavowed ancient ancestors of faith.

Along with their separation from the Hebraic Tradition and anathematization of the Hebrew and Aramaic Scriptures, Christendom eventually lost

the ability to accurately identify the meaning of a number of biblical terms, in

keeping with their ancient formative contexts of understanding. The term
“gospel,” as it was originally understood by the authors of scripture was no longer
definable. Although many Christians today would generally agree that the
“gospel” is “the story of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus,” which if
“accepted” as being factually true, has the “salvific” power to afford adherents
entry into heaven after death, the point is substantiated herein that 1st century
followers of the Rabbi Jesus understood and participated in a “gospel,” whereby
they entered a dynamic, living and miraculous relationship with God. With the
unwitting acceptance of new meanings for several biblical terms, however, the
spirituality of Christianity was set off course, leading many adherents into an

him, “I will come and heal him.” (8) The centurion answered,
“Lord, I’m not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the
word, and my servant will be healed. (9) For I am also a man
under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go,’
and he goes; and tell another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and tell my
servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”(10) When YESHUA heard it, he

The heart of Jesus' teachings centers around the theme of the kingdom of
God. This expression is found in sixty-one separate sayings in the Synoptic
Gospels. Counting parallels to these passages, the expression occurs over
eighty-five times.
Rule and Reign (malak- melekh)
 The basic meaning of the word kingdom in the Bible is God’s reign
 — R-E-I-G-N —. The kingdom creates a realm, the kingdom creates a
people, but the kingdom of God is synonymous with its realm or its
people.
 Psalms 103:19: “The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.”
 You can hear the basic meaning of the word kingdom as rule.
 it means that God’s reign or rule governs all things.
Kingdom of God
The heart of Jesus' teachings centers around the theme of the kingdom of
God. This expression is found in sixty-one separate sayings in the Synoptic
Gospels. Counting parallels to these passages, the expression occurs over
eighty-five times. It also occurs twice in John (3:3, 5). It is found in such key places
as the preaching of John the Baptist, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near"
( Matt 3:2 ); Jesus' earliest announcement, "The time has come… The kingdom of
God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" ( Mark 1:15 ; cf. Matt 4:17 ; Luke
4:42-43 );the prayer Jesus taught his disciples, "your kingdom come" ( Matt 6:10 );
in the Beatitudes, "for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" ( Matthew 5:3 Matthew
5:10 ); at the Last Supper, "I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that
day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God" ( Mark 14:25 ); and in many of
Jesus' parables ( Matthew 13:24 Matthew 13:44 Matthew 13:45 Matthew
13:47 ; Mark 4:26 Mark 4:30 ; Luke19:11 ).
It was once popular in certain circles to argue that the expressions "kingdom of
God" and "kingdom of heaven" referred to two different realities. It is now clear,
WHO SHALL SET UP THIS KINGDOM?
DANIEL 2:44
44 In the days of these kings the God of heaven will set
up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed. And the
kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break
in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall
stand forever.

DANIEL 4:3
3 How great are His signs, and how mighty His
wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and
His dominion is from generation to generation.
WHAT DID GOD GIVE HIS SON?
DANIEL 7:13-14
13 I was watching in the night visions, and behold, One
like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days. They brought Him near
before Him.
14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a
kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages
should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting
dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom
the one which shall not be destroyed.
WHO SHALL BE THE KING?
ZECHARIAH 14:9
9 The LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that
day it shall be--"The LORD is one" and His name one.

LUKE 1:33
33 He (Jesus) will reign over the house of Jacob
forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.
WHEN WILL THIS KINGDOM COME?
MATTHEW 3:1-2
1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the
wilderness of Judea,
2 Saying, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!

MARK 1:14-15
14 After John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee,
preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 Saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God
is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.
(MATTHEW 4:17)
WHAT DID JESUS PREACH? WHY?
LUKE 4:43
43 Jesus said to them, I must preach the kingdom of
God to the other cities also, Because for this purpose I
have been sent.

MATTHEW 4:23
23 Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their
synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease
among the people. (MATTHEW 9:35)
WHAT DID THE TWELVE PREACH?
MATTHEW 10:5-7
5 These Twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them,
saying: Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do
not enter a city of the Samaritans.
6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of
Israel.
7 As you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven
is at hand.
LUKE 9:2
1 Jesus called His Twelve disciples together and gave
them power and authority over all demons, and to cure
diseases.
2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to
heal the sick.
WHAT DID JESUS TEACH THEM TO PRAY
MATTHEW 6:9-13
9 In this manner, therefore, pray: our Father in
heaven, hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it
is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us
from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the
power and the glory forever. Amen.
WHAT DID JESUS TELL THEM TO PRAY FOR?
LUKE 11:2-4
2 Jesus said to them, When you pray, say: our Father
in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone
who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into
temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
KINGDOM CONCEPTS
WHEN WILL THIS KINGDOM COME?
LUKE 17:20-21
20 Jesus was asked by the Pharisees
when the kingdom of God would come.
He answered them saying, The kingdom
of God does not come with observation;
21 Nor will they say, 'See here!' or
'See there!' For indeed, The kingdom of
God is within you.
HOW IS ONE TO ENTER THIS KINGDOM?
JESUS SAID “YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN”
JOHN 3:3-7
3 Jesus said to Nicodemus, Most assuredly, I say
to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see
the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born
when he is old? Can he enter a second time into
his mother's womb and be born?
Jesus answered, Most assuredly, I say to you,
unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he
cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that
which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be
born again. (NKJ)
JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH
JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH – Basic Principles in the Kingdom
- The important doctrine of “justification by faith” has
not escaped the distortion caused by the loss of
the land promise made to Abraham which
underlies Jesus’ Gospel of the Kingdom.
- Justification is often limited to the concept of forgiveness of sin.
But as the Pulpit Commentary (Vol. 18, pp. 121, 122) points out:
“We must not restrict justification to deliverance from
deserved penalty, but must attach it to the further idea of
inheritance. As one writer has well remarked, ‘
“ Justification is applicable to something more
than the discharge of an accused person without
condemnation.
JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH – Basic Principles in the Kingdom
Gal 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him
for righteousness.
Gal 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are
the children of Abraham.
Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the
heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham,
saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. Gal 3:9 So then they
which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH
– Basic Principles in the Kingdom
 The loss of the Bible’s strongly future-
oriented Gospel can be traced to the
Church’s loss of the Old Testament.
 what goes under the name of
Christianity in American churches is a
vague religion which has borrowed the
name of Jesus but not understood his
teaching, especially as it relates to the
central covenant promise made to
Abraham.

The Land Promise to Abraham and His Descendants — the Key to
the Whole Bible Plot nderlying the entire Bible story, running like
a golden thread through Scripture, is the promise made to Abraham
that he would receive, as a reward for his obedience to God’s call to
leave Ur of the Chaldees, prosperity, progeny, and property.
This amazing, divinely promised guarantee of success, which
Christians are invited to share as spiritual children of Abraham, is
summed up in the compact phrase “the blessing of Abraham.”
 This beautiful and memorable phrase is found only twice in
Scripture, in Galatians 3:14 and Genesis 28:4. This provides the
essential link between the two Testaments. That blessing of
prosperity, progeny and property (land forever) is defined by Paul in
Romans 4:13 as “the promise to Abraham and to his descendants
that he would be heir of the world /(earth).”
Gal 3:14 that the blessing of

The Law and the Promise
Gal 3:17-21 (17) Now I say this. A covenant confirmed beforehand by
ELOHIM in Messiah, the Torah (teaching and instruction), which came four
hundred thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no
effect.
(18) For if the inheritance is of the Torah (teaching and instruction), it is no
more of promise; but ELOHIM has granted it to Abraham by promise. (19)
What then is the Torah (teaching and instruction)? It was added because of
transgressions, until the seed should come to whom the promise has been
made. (21) Is the Torah (teaching and instruction) then
It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator. (20) Now a mediator is not between one, but ELOHIM is one .

against the promises of ELOHIM? Certainly not!

For if there had been a Torah (teaching and instruction) given which
could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of

 God, in creating man, ordered him to subdue the earth and to exercise dominion over the
earth (Gen. 1:28). Man, in attempting to establish separate dominion and autonomous
jurisdiction over the earth (Gen.3:5), fell into sin and death.
 God, in order to reestablish the Kingdom of God, called Abraham, and then
Israel, to be His people, to subdue the earth, and to exercise dominion under
God. The law, as given through Moses, established the laws of godly society, of
true development for man under God, and the prophets repeatedly recalled Israel
to this purpose.
 The purpose of Christ’s coming was in terms of this same creation mandate.
 Christ as the new Adam (1 Cor. 15:45) kept the law perfectly. As the sin-bearer of the
elect, Christ died to make atonement for their sins, to restore them to their position of
righteousness under God.
 The redeemed are recalled to the original purpose of man, exercise dominion under God,
to be covenant-keepers, and to fulfil “the righteousness of the law” (Rom. 8:4).
 The law remains central to God’s purpose. Man has been reestablished into God’s
original purpose and calling.  Man’s justification is by the grace of God in Jesus Christ;
man’s sanctification is by means of the law of God. ( Institute of Biblical Law by

Matthew 5:5. “The meek are to inherit the earth/land,”
citing the amazing Psalm 37 which no less than five
times defines the goal and destiny of the faithful..
 This has not a word to say about “going to heaven as a
disembodied soul at death.” To confirm this point, note the fearless words of Dr. J.A.T. Robinson at Cambridge:
“‘Heaven’ is in fact never used in the Bible for the destination of
the dying” (In the End God, p. 104).
 You get a very different impression at funerals and in
commonly heard sermons! The only recognizable goal of the
believer is “heaven.” But not according to Scripture.
 The biblical drama hangs on this remarkable tension:
 Abraham and his seed have never yet inherited
the land/earth
WHAT IS THE CONTEXT OF THE GOSPEL THAT WAS PREACHED TO FATHER ABRAHAM?GAL. 3:8
 In fact Stephen in the sermon which cost him his life (Acts 7, the longest
chapter in that book) explicitly says that “Abraham did not inherit as
much as a square foot of the promised land”!
 But “God promised it to him and his seed” (Acts 7:5). That marvelous
promise is rooted of course in Genesis 12, 13, 15 and constantly
throughout the Hebrew Bible.
 How is that staggering promise to find fulfillment, since Abraham
is long dead? God will indeed as always be vindicated.
 The obvious and only solution is that Abraham will have to be
resurrected when Jesus comes back in order to take up his allotted place
in the Kingdom/land of the new order to be introduced by Jesus.
 Mat 8:11 And I say to you, that a great many will come from the east
and from the west, and sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in
the kingdom of heaven/God. ( where? Kingdom of God on earth)
WHAT IS THE CONTEXT OF THE GOSPEL THAT WAS PREACHED TO FATHER ABRAHAM?GAL. 3:8
 The Christian faith is called “the faith of Abraham” (Rom. 4:16),
and Abraham is the spiritual father of the faithful (Rom. 4:11).
 No wonder then that the Gospel was preached in advance to
Abraham (Gal. 3:8).
 This in short is the Gospel of the Land/Kingdom, the Gospel as
preached by Jesus and
 when the Son of Man returns to the earth and takes up his position
on his throne of glory, the apostles will also occupy 12 thrones and
set about the task of governing the tribes re-gathered at that time
in the land (see Matt. 19:28 :14-15; Luke 4:43; Acts 19:8; 20:24-25;
28:23, 31), which is conspicuous by its absence Paul. in churches and preaching!
WHAT WAS TO BE PREACHED AFTER JOHN?
LUKE 16:16-17
16 The law and the prophets were until John. Since that
time the kingdom of God has been preached, and
everyone is pressing into it.
17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away
than for one tittle of the law to fail.

MATTHEW 24:14
14 This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the
world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will
come.
Biblical Theology and the Kingdom
The focus of Yeshua's life and teaching
was the Kingdom of God. Luke 4:43
AFTER JESUS’ RESURRECTION
WHAT DID JESUS TELL HIS APOSTLES TO DO?

LUKE 24:46-49
46 Then Jesus said to them, Thus it is written, and thus
it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from
the dead the third day,
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should
be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at
Jerusalem.
48 And you are witnesses of these things.
49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you;
BUT tarry in the city of Jerusalem UNTIL you are
endued with power from on high.
AFTER JESUS’ RESURRECTION
WHAT DID JESUS TELL HIS APOSTLES?

ACTS 1:2-5
2 Until the day in which He was taken up, after He
through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the
apostles whom He had chosen,
3 To whom He also presented Himself alive after His
suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them
during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining
to the kingdom of God.
4 Being assembled together with them, He
commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to
wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, you
have heard from Me;
5 John truly baptized with water, but you shall be
baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
AFTER JESUS’ RESURRECTION
WHAT DID JESUS TELL HIS APOSTLES?

ACTS 1:6-8
6 When they had come together, they asked Him,
saying, Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom
to Israel?
7 He said to them, It is not for you to know times or
seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit
has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me
in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the
end of the earth.
WHAT HAPPENED ON PENTECOST?
WHO WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST?

ACTS 2:1-4
1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they
were all with one accord in one place.
2 Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a
rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where
they were sitting.
3 There appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire,
and one sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and
began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave
them utterance.
WHAT WERE THEY ADDED TO?
ACTS 2:36-41
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly
that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified,
both Lord and Christ.
37 When they heard this, they were cut to the heart,
and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and
brethren, what shall we do?
38 Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you
be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the
Holy Spirit.
39 For the promise is to you, to your children and to all
who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.
40 With many other words he testified and exhorted
them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation.
41 Those who gladly received his word were baptized;
and that day about three thousand souls were added to
them.
Evangelicalism’s Gospel Without the Kingdom
 Initiation into the Christian community is by baptism, once the
essential facts of the “Gospel of the Kingdom and the things
concerning the name of Jesus” have been grasped
 (Acts 8:12;28:23, 31). Act 8:12 But when they believed Philip
proclaiming good news concerning the Kingdom of ELOHIM and the
name of YESHUA the Messiah, they were immersed, both men and
women.
 Act 28:23 When they had appointed him a day, many people came to him at his
lodging. He explained to them, testifying about the Kingdom of ELOHIM, and
persuading them concerning YESHUA, both from the Torah of Moses and from the
Prophets, from morning until evening.
 Following baptism as evidence of our commitment to God and His Son,
we should spend the remainder of our lives growing in “grace and
knowledge” (2 Pet. 3:18)
 in preparation for the great event of the future, the ushering in of a new
order of things, the Government of Yeshua in the millennial kingdom.
TO WHAT DID THE LORD ADD THEM?
ACTS 2:46-47
46 They continued daily with one accord in the temple,
and breaking bread from house to house and ate their
food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
47 Praising God and having favor with all the people.
And the Lord added to the church daily those who were
being saved.
WHAT DID PHILIP PREACH?
ACTS 8:12
12 They believed Philip as he preached the things
concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus
Christ, and both men and women were baptized.

WHAT DID PAUL CONTINUE TO PREACH?

ACTS 19:8
8 Paul went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for
three months, reasoning and persuading concerning
the things of the kingdom of God.
WHAT DID PAUL CONTINUE TO PREACH?
ACTS 28:23-24
23 When they had appointed him a day, many came to
him at his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly
testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them
concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the
Prophets, from morning till evening.
24 Some were persuaded by the things which were
spoken, and some disbelieved.

ACTS 28:30-31
30 Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house,
and received all who came to him,
31 Preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the
things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all
confidence, no one forbidding him.
WHEN THE END COMES
WHAT WILL JESUS DELIVER UP TO GOD?

1 CORINTHIANS 15:24-26
24 When the end comes, He will deliver the kingdom to
God the Father. He will put an end to all rule and all
authority and power.
25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under
His feet.
26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.
WHAT DID GOD TRANSLATE US INTO?

COLOSSIANS 1:13-14
13 God has delivered us from the power of darkness
and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His
love,
14 In whom we have redemption through His blood, the
forgiveness of sins. (NKJ)

13 Who has delivered us from the power of darkness,

and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
(KJV)
13 He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
(NIV)
WHAT DID GOD CALL US INTO?

1 THESSALONIANS 2:11-12
11 You know how we exhorted, comforted and charged
every one of you, as a father does his own children,
12 That you would walk worthy of God who calls you
into His own kingdom and glory.
WHAT IS GIVEN TO YOU?

2 PETER 1:10-11
10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make
your call and election sure, for if you do these things
you will never stumble;
11 For so an entrance will be supplied to you
abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ.
Evangelicalism’s Gospel Without the Kingdom
The evangelical part of the churchgoing public
has seen that to abandon Scripture as an
authoritative and final source of the Christian
faith is to open the doors to religious anarchy.
However, evangelicals unwittingly accept as
biblical truth a great deal that has not been
carefully examined in the light of Scripture. 
The “sola Scriptura” slogan of the
Reformation may often mean only a
traditional explanation of the Scriptures.
Luther and Calvin imposed their own
dogmas on Scripture.

THE ABOMINATION OF THE DENOMINATION

Evangelicalism’s Gospel Without the Kingdom
This is significantly true of the evangelical definition
of the Gospel.58 Once again it is the Messianism of the
New Testament which has been abandoned. The
Gospel which Jesus and the Apostles proclaimed was
always the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.59
 But the failure of traditional Christianity to define
the Kingdom in biblical Messianic terms has led to
the substitution of a partial “believe in Jesus”
Gospel.
 The Kingdom seems to have disappeared from the
Good News. The problem is that the Gospel
deprived of its strong eschatological and Messianic
associations is not really the Gospel as Jesus and
the Apostles preached it.
Evangelicalism’s Gospel Without the Kingdom
 There is a clear difference between the traditional
“departing to heaven when you die” and the New
Testament expectation of resurrection to life in the
Kingdom at the Second Coming.
 In the New Testament the Good News about the
Kingdom of God is first put to the potential convert:
“Repent and believe the Good News” (about the
Kingdom of God, Mark 1:14, 15).
 With this message he is challenged by a statement
about God’s purpose for the future of our world. God
plans to send His Son to establish the Kingdom of
God on earth.
(ex. William Tyndale said to the Pope in the 16th century : Pope
why are you bringing people to heaven, so then wheres the hope
of the Resurrection of the saints in the 2nd coming of Christ?
Evangelicalism’s Gospel Without the Kingdom
 In the parable of the sower, in which Jesus gives the
quintessential presentation of the Gospel of salvation, the
Messiah declared that what blocks genuine repentance and
consequent forgiveness is the sin of blindness or non-
acceptance of Jesus’ Gospel preaching (“word of the Kingdom,”
Matt. 13:19) or “words of the age to come” (John 6:68).
 Mat 13:19 When anyone hears the word of the Kingdom, and doesn’t
understand it, the evil one comes, and snatches away that which has
been sown in his heart. This is what was sown by the roadside.
Evangelicalism’s Gospel Without the Kingdom
 Believing in Jesus, it must not be forgotten, means believing all
that he taught as Gospel, starting with his own summary
statement in Mark 1:14, 15.
 The New Testament from beginning to end presents faith in Jesus’
message as the indispensable condition of salvation.
 The same theme — namely that being made right with God
(justified) depends on understanding and receiving the Gospel as
Jesus preached it
 — is found also in Daniel 12:3: “Those who make many righteous
will shine like the stars for all time.”
 This text strongly appealed to Jesus who quotes it in Matthew
13:43, where “the instructors, those who make many righteous”
(Dan. 12:3) are “the righteous” appearing in the future Kingdom.
THE GREATEST CAREER OPPORTUNITY OF ALL TIME — FOR YOU!
Stop and listen!
We have some spectacularly good news for you and your family.
Some time in the future, Jesus of Nazareth is going to become the
world’s first successful super-ruler. He will totally reorganize human
society, and produce the peace on earth which we all want.
Under Jesus’ government, there will be no more wars, no more
famine; no more murder, rape or theft; no more alcoholism and
depression; no more divorce, and no more poverty.
Does this sound too good to be true? God, the Creator of all things,
has personally promised that a Golden Age for all mankind will
come. He has been promising it since He first placed man on our
earth. The arrival of that era of glorious peace and prosperity is
guaranteed.
What you have just been told is the heart of the Christian Gospel.
Very probably you have not heard it before.
 Nearly 2,000 years ago, Jesus came to announce the dramatically
important good news concerning the future divine government
on earth.
 He is coming back to take up His office as world super-ruler —
and He is now recruiting men and women to assist Him in the
administration of His coming Kingdom.
 He wants you to be a ruler in that Kingdom.
 What a tragedy if you were to allow this greatest of all career
opportunities to pass you by.
 You can so easily neglect the information you have just been
given. But don’t do it.
 Do yourself and your family a favor. Check up on the facts.

WHAT IS HIS KINGDOM?

JOHN 18:36
36 Jesus said, My kingdom is not of this world. If My
kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so
that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My
kingdom is not from here.
37 Pilate said to Him, Are You a king then? Jesus

JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH – Basic Principles in the Kingdomquestion of property, right or
inheritance was under discussion between the two parties.

The judge, by justifying one of the parties, decided that the property in question was to be regarded as his. Applying this aspect
of the matter to the justification of man in the sight of God, we gather from Scripture that whilst through sin a man is to be
regarded as having forfeited legal claim to any right of inheritance which God might have to bestow upon his creatures, so
through justification he is restored to his high position and regarded as an heir of God’” (Girdlestone, Old Testament Synonyms,
pp. 259, 260, emphasis added).
Thus it is that man is justified in order to regain his status as son of God and in consequence his right to be heir of the
promises given to Abraham and made possible through Christ. The goal of the Christian, which unconditional forgiveness and
the grace of God place him in a position to strive for and reach, is to rule with Christ in the coming Kingdom of God on earth. A
number of high frequency New Testament terms describe this goal: “Kingdom of God/Heaven” (Matt. 19:14, 23, 24),
“eternal/everlasting life”— literally “life in the Age to Come” (Matt. 19:16), “life” (Matt. 19:17, Rom. 5:17), “salvation” (Matt.
19:25), “rulership with Christ as royal family in the New Age to come” (Matt. 19:28), “inheritance of eternal life” (Matt. 19:29).
Inheritance of the promises of world dominion is invariably placed in the future. For the present time of struggle towards
entrance into the Kingdom of God the Christian is promised the spirit of Christ as a “downpayment” of the future inheritance (II
Cor. 1:22; 5:5; Eph. 1:14). But the inheritance itself is plainly to be received in the future (no New Testament text says that we
have already inherited the Kingdom): “Whatever you do, do your work heartily as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing
that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance [of the world promised to Abraham, i.e. rulership in the
Kingdom of God]” (Col. 3:23, 24).
Inheritance and possession of the world are offered to the faithful believers. The Greek word kleronomia — inheritance —
is derived from two words, kleros, lot, portion, possession, and nemein, to control or administer. The Christian reward involves
administration of the possession to be received. Thus Paul believed that “the saints are to manage the world...The world is to
come under your jurisdiction” (I Cor. 6:2, Moffat), while the wicked will be unable to “inherit the Kingdom of God” (v. 10). The

The Land Promise to Abraham and His Descendants — the Key to the Whole Bible Plot
Underlying the entire Bible story, running like a golden thread through Scripture, is the promise
made to Abraham that he would receive, as a reward for his obedience to God’s call to leave Ur
of the Chaldees, prosperity, progeny, and property. This amazing, divinely promised guarantee
of success, which Christians are invited to share as spiritual children of Abraham, is summed up
in the compact phrase “the blessing of Abraham.” This beautiful and memorable phrase is
found only twice in Scripture, in Galatians 3:14 and Genesis 28:4. This provides the essential link
between the two Testaments. That blessing of prosperity, progeny and property (land forever)
is defined by Paul in Romans 4:13 as “the promise to Abraham and to his descendants that he
would be heir of the world” (earth, BBE, Basic Bible in English). This is exactly the promise of
Jesus to his followers in Matthew 5:5. “The meek are to inherit the earth/land,” citing the
amazing Psalm 37 which no less than five times defines the goal and destiny of the faithful. This
has not a word to say about “going to heaven as a disembodied soul at death.” To confirm this
point, note the fearless words of Dr. J.A.T. Robinson at Cambridge: “‘Heaven’ is in fact never
used in the Bible for the destination of the dying” (In the End God, p. 104). You get a very
different impression at funerals and in commonly heard sermons! The only recognizable goal of
the believer is “heaven.” But not according to Scripture.
• A Translation of John’s Gospel from the Greek
• This is an ongoing translation of the Gospel of John which has appeared chapter by chapter in the Focus on the
Kingdom magazine (Oct. 2004, Jan. 2005, Oct. 2005, Aug. 2006, April + May 2009, Feb. 2012)
• n the beginning there was God’s Grand Design, the declaration of His Intention and Purpose, and that
declaration was with God as His project, and it was fully expressive of God Himself. This was with God in the
beginning. Everything came into being through it, and without it nothing of what came into being existed. In it
there was life and that life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness does not
overwhelm it. There came on the scene of history a man commissioned by God. His name was John. This man
came as a witness [a preacher of the Gospel of the Kingdom, Matt. 3:2] so that he might bear witness to the light
and that everyone might believe through him. He was not the Light himself, but he witnessed concerning the
light. This was the genuine light which enlightens every man coming into the world.
• He was in the world and the world came into existence through him, and the world did not recognize him. He
came to his own land and his own people did not accept him. As many, however, as did accept him, to these he
gave the right to become children of God — namely the ones believing in his Gospel revelation, his religion.
These were born not from blood, nor from the desire of the flesh nor from the desire of a male, but from God.
And the word became a human being and tabernacled among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of a
uniquely begotten Son from a Father, full of grace and truth.
Abraham's Reward and Ours

by Anthony Buzzard

A careful study of the book of Hebrews reveals that “heaven” — meaning a location beyond the skies — is not the
reward promised to Abraham and the Christian believers. If this proposition appears startling to some it may be
because we have become accustomed, without careful reflection, to the idea that the dead are promised a heavenly
home at death. Tradition has led us to believe that the dead are to be transported to their new residence in heaven
when their life on earth comes to an end.

If students of the Bible find any such idea in the Scriptures it may well be that they are reading into the text what
they expect to be there. But what does Scripture actually say?

Hebrews 11:8 provides the following information: Abraham obeyed God’s invitation by going out to “a place which
he was to receive for an inheritance.” He then lived in that promised land as an alien (Heb. 11:9). He was “looking for
the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God” (Heb. 11:10).

Following the text closely we learn that Abraham’s promised inheritance was none other than the land in which he
lived his life as an alien. That land was obviously not “heaven,” but the actual land of Palestine. Isaac and Jacob were
fellow heirs of the same promise. So says Hebrews 11:9.
