NATIONAL EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY
“Education in Malaysia is an on-going effort towards further developing
the potential of individuals in a holistic and integrated manner, in order to
produce individuals who are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and
physically, balanced and harmonious, based on a firm belief in and
devotion to god. Such an effort is designed to produce Malaysian
citizens who are knowledgeable and competent, who possess high
moral standards and who are responsible and capable of achieving a
high level of personal well-being to contribute to the betterment of the
nation, family and society. ”
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN
PPSMI AND
MBMMBI
• The PPSMI Policy made English as the medium of teaching and learning the
subjects of science and mathematics in national schools, Tamil national-type
schools, and secondary schools.

• The MBMMBI policy sets the Malay Language as the medium of teaching and
learning at the national schools and secondary schools.

MBMMBI

1. The transformation to Malay language is seemed most appropriate as it is also the


national language of Malaysia as stated in the Article 152,Constitution of Malaysia
and has been used as the main medium of instruction in education according to the
Education Act 1996.
2. The Ministry of Education is also focusing in strengthening the command of English in
order to improve English proficiency amongst the student as English is the second
language in Malaysia.
3. Competence in English will enable students to explore various fields of knowledge
from extensive resources and can motivate them to pursue their higher education.

STRATEGIES
• Transform the curriculum of Malay language and English

• Strengthen the competence of Malay language teachers and English language


teacher.

• Placing the Malay language teachers and English teachers according to


option.

• Using the services of experts, consultants and teaching assistants.

• Expand the use of materials and information communication technology in


learning and teaching of Malay language and English

• Increase student participation in language activities outside the classroom.

• Benchmark the student achievement based on the standard performance of
