POWERPOINT EXERCISE

 Fortnite is a Battle Royale game consisting of 100 players, where the goal is to be the last one to survive at the end. There is a large map, which contains things

like weapons, traps, explosive devices, and many other obstacles. In this Powerpoint, I want to explain more about the origins of Fortnite and why I like to play it.

 This is the map in Fortnite. It is quite large when you are in the game. Basically, when the game
starts, you are dropped into this map, sort of like the Hunger Games. The map has different
aspects to it, that go into account when fighting, based on the weather conditions. The game
might come out with more maps in the future, but for now, this is the only one that is available.

 In Fortnite, there is all different kinds of weapons you can use. It begins with pistols, to shotguns, to
AR rifles, to explosive weapons, and then to snipers finally. The rarity of the gun depends on the
color. The colors range from gray to gold. Gray being the lowest, and gold being the highest. The
difference in the guns is how much damage they do as well as their rarity.

The company that created Fortnite is Epic Games. They have created many other titles but notable the
title named “Gears of War”. Not only did Epic create the first notorious free Battle Royale, which was
one of the main reasons that the game did so well, they also made 3 billion + in profits, with more and
more money coming in. Companies have taken note of Epic’s marketing plan and have been doing the
same thing with their Battle Royale game, making it free and appealing to everyone.

Not only does Fortnite have an online mode, it also has an offline mode where you get to kill
zombies and make bases, to prevent the zombies from coming in. This part of the game, unlike the
Battle Royale version, costs $30 and you cannot play with real players. Epic Games has been making
profit from this game as well but the sales have not done nearly as well as the player vs player,
online version.

 Not only has the game Fortnite blown up, but players have been able to take
advantage of it and start streaming the game, to entertain people and create
money from doing it. Streamers make their money by advertising the game
through playing it, while making money from things like donations and
subscriptions, where they receive money monthly from different viewers that
are entertained by the streamer.

In Fortnite, there is a thing called an item shop, which provides in game cosmetics for real life
money. This is where the company Epic makes all their money. They give people the incentive
to buy the skin by having an awesome marketing plan where they come out with different skins
every week, motivating people to buy them, to stay in fashion with the other players in the
game. The cheapest amount you can buy is $10, and the majority of the good skins require $20,
which makes the game pretty pricey in the long run, when it’s free. That’s what a lot of
companies are doing nowadays, creating free games with in game cosmetics.
