INTRODUCTION:
We are living in the 21st century & number of multi-storied
regular & irregular structures are designed to resist loads such as
earthquake & loads. To solve those structural problems various
software's are used. In this project we use ETABS software for stress
analysis, shear force & bending moment forces in the beams &
columns.
The aim of the project is to design structures resistant to
earthquake & wind load. That will behave e& survive without
collapse under major earthquake conditions that may occur during
the life of a structure.
LITERATURE REVIEW:
 STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF BUILDINGS WITH
DIFFERENT PLAN CONFIGURATIONS ( by Abhay Guleria) :
In this journal author Abhay mainly deals with study of
rectangular, L, C & I shape plans using ETABS . Post analysis of
the structure, shear forces , bending moments & maximum storey
drift are computed & then compared for all analyzed cases. The
over-turning moment varies inversely with storey height.
FEASIBILITY STUDY:
 In case of rectangular plans, moments produced is higher
compared to other shapes
METHODOLOGY:
 LINEAR ANALYSIS:
1. STATIC ANALYSIS(SEISMIC ANALYSIS): this analysis is
used to define a set of forces acting on a building to stimulate an
earthquake ground motion effect.
2. DYNAMIC ANALYSIS(RESPONSE SPECTRUM): in order to
apply forces in different angles, the structure has to be revolved
with an angle of incidence from 0 to 90 degrees, with an
increment of 10 degrees. The column force needs to be
investigated in all cases. The columns have been divided into
three main categories: corner, side & internal(middle) followed
by comparison of end results.
 NON-LINEAR ANALYSIS:
1. PUSH-OVER ANALYSIS: it is static non linear analysis method
where a structure is subjected to gravity loading & monotonic
displacement by a controlled lateral loading pattern which
continuously increases through elastic & inelastic behavior until an
ultimate condition is reached. Lateral loads represents the range of
base shear by earthquake load & its configuration is proportional to
the distribution of mass along building height & shape. Output
generates a static pushover curve which plots a strength parameter
against deflection.
2. TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS: it is dynamic evaluation under loading
which may vary according to the specified time fuction. This analysis
provides exact response of a structure as a function of time determined
by step by step numerical integration of equation of motion. Peak
response obtained from maximum value of response-history plot.
PROCEDURE FOR PUSH-OVER
ANALYSIS:
 Create a computational model using conventional modelling
techniques
 Define properties for push-over hinges using Define>Section
properties>Hinge properties.
 Assign the pushover hinges to selected frame objects using
Assign>Frame>Hinges.
 Select Define>Load patterns to define load patterns for pushover
analysis
 Select Define>Load cases>Add new load case to define a
nonlinear static load case which will apply the previously defined
load pattern.
 Assign auto plastic hinges to beams: Select>Select>Object
type>Beams>Select then Assign>Frames>Hinges
 Assign auto plastic hinges to columns
 Select Analyze> Run analysis to run the pushover analysis
 Results are obtained as given below example
