Introduction
 A is driving on busy street when he struck and
kill a pedistertain is called guilty of crime . in
order to convict a person in a crime , a state of
mind must be evaluated .
 The concept of criminal responsibility contents
the different mental states related to crimes ,
the ways in which those mental states are
evaluated , and the variety of associated
defenses .
Criminal responsibility

The term Criminal responsibility refers to a


person’s ability to understand his or her conduct
at the time a crime is committed.
Elements of a Crime
 To be convicted of a crime a person must have the Actus
Reus and the Mens Rea. Every crime must be considered
in two parts-the physical act of the crime (actus reus) and
the mental intent to do the crime (mens rea).
Actus reus defined as a criminal act that was the result of
voluntary bodily movement. This describes a physical
activity that harms another person or damages property.
Anything from a physical assault .
Mens Rea is Latin for “the guilty mind” , where an accused
person deliberately did something he or she knew to be
wrong, with reckless disregard for the consequences.

Intent means to do something wrong.

Motive is the reason a person commits a crime,

Intentional
 An intentional mental states means the actor
consciously engaged in the conduct or that the
actor’s conscious objective is to bring about a
particular result .
Knowing
The actor is aware the his or her conducts is criminal , or
her conduct will bring about a particular result.
Wanton (or reckless)
The actor consciously disregard substantial
risk that his or her conduct will bring about
a particular result .
Negligent
Negligence in which the party who acted
wrongfully is liable for damages to the
injured party , a person who is convicted of
criminal negligence is subject to a fine ,
imprisonment , or both because of the
status of the conduct as a crime
Conclusion

 It is quite obvious that the rate of crimes


are increasing day by day in all societies in
the world, but I personally do believe that
there are a lot which can be done by both
the governments and the individuals to
reduce the crimes in communities.
 all society members including the
governments and people must take
necessary measurements to keep it a
crime-free place.
