Definition
Panu (Pityriasis versicolor) is a fungal infection
disease characterized by the appearance of patches
of small patches on the skin. The color of the spots
can be lighter or darker than the original skin color.
In some cases, the color of the panu is even pink or
red. This skin disease is not contagious. When
exposed to panu, spots on the skin can widen with
time. In addition to causing the skin to appear
discolored, the panu can also cause the skin of the
patient feels itchy and rough (scaly). Body parts are
often exposed to panu that is on the back, upper
arm, abdomen, chest, and neck. Panu is not harmful,
but it can interfere with appearance and cause
discomfort due to symptoms of itching.
Causes of Panu (Pityriasis
versicolor)
Malassezia is a type of fungus that causes
the formation of panu. This fungus is harmless
and commonly found in human skin especially
in adults. The fungus began to cause white
patches on the skin when breeding
uncontrolled. It is not known clearly what
caused the development of the Malassezia
mushrooms to become uncontrollable in some
people. The level of personal hygiene is not
expected to be related to the appearance of
this condition.
Factor affecting
 Has an oily skin type
 Living in a warm, humid zone
 Often excessive sweating
 Have a low immune level
 Experiencing hormonal changes
Prevention
 Keeping the skin clean, there are many
people who rarely take a bath especially
teenagers when the holiday period
arrives. Shower at least twice a day, if a lot
of activity and sweats can bathe more
often.
 Eat-a healthy diet, one of the factors
causing the panu because the immune
system is weak so that the fungus can
infect quickly.
 Drying the skin properly, moist skin due to
sweat or oily not only trigger the appearance of
acne alone but also panu.
 Often change clothes, because the clothes are
also vulnerable skin fungus that causes itching
or panu disease.
 Replace towels, towels also need to be replaced
at least once a week to prevent the disease so
there is no fungal infection of the skin that
causes white patches.
