IMPORT ORGANIZATION
 1 . Organizational Set Up : In order to start an export
business, the prospective exporter has to decide whether
he should opt for a proprietary concern or a firm or a
company.
 Types : a. Sole Proprietorship
b. Partnership
c. Company

 2. Mode of Operations :
a. Merchant Exporter
b. Manufacturer Exporter
c. Agent
 3. Name of Organization : Name and style of business
concern should be attractive, soft, understandable, short
and meaningful. The of fice should be in commercial complex
with clean surroundings.

 4. Product Selection : Prudent selection of products may


attract high profitability, so it is important to study the
trends of export of dif ferent items from India and the
demand of the selected products in foreign nations where we
have to export.

 5. Ef fective Communication : By it, we mean that the


language of the subject matter should be polite, soft, brief
and to the point, giving clarity to the customers.
 6. Import Export Code (IEC) : Any bonafide person/company
has to obtain the license issued by the Directorate General
of Foreign Trade (DGFT), to have a foreign trade transaction
and that license is known as Import Export Code. No
export/import can be made without IEC because IEC forms a
primary document for recognition by Govt. of India as an
Exporter/Importer.

Documents Needed for IEC :


a. Bank Receipt/Demand Draft
b. Certificate from the Banker
c. Self Certificate Copy of PAN issued by Income Tax Dept.
d. Two copies of passport size photographs of the applicant
e. Self addressed envelope duly stamped for Rps. 30/-
