• Contraindications:
• As primary treatment of status asthmaticus, acute episodes of asthma or COPD
requiring intensive measures, and potentially worsening or rapidly deteriorating
asthma or COPD.
• Special Precautions:
• Patients w/ asthma that is adequately controlled on low- or medium-dose inhaled
corticosteroids
• Bacterial (e.g. active or quiescent pulmonary TB), fungal, parasitic, and viral (e.g.
chickenpox, measles, ocular herpes simplex) infection
• hypokalaemia, thyrotoxicosis, DM, CV disorders, Hepatic impairment.
• Patient Counselling:
• Rinse mouth thoroughly every after inhalation.

• Contraindications
• Not for primary treatment of status asthmaticus or other acute attacks of asthma.
• Special Precautions
• Pulmonary TB, severe cardiovascular disorders, heart rhythm abnormalities, DM,
thyrotoxicosis, hypokalaemia.
• Patients at risk of decreased bone mineral content (e.g. smoking, old age, sedentary
lifestyle, poor nutrition, family history of osteoporosis or long term use of drugs that
may decrease bone mass (e.g. anticonvulsants and corticosteroids).
• Patient Counselling:
• Rinse mouth after inhalation.
• Do not stop therapy abruptly; therapy should be down titrated.

• Patient w/ active or quiescent pulmonary TB, untreated systemic infections,
• Fungal, viral or airway infections, thyrotoxicosis, , DM, hypokalaemia, CV disorders
(e.g. arrhythmia, heart failure, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, idiopathic
subvalvular aortic stenosis, severe HTN, aneurysm).
• Not intended for acute asthma attack.
• Hepatic impairment.
• Patient Counselling
• Rinse mouth thoroughly every after inhalation. Avoid abrupt withdrawal.
• Food Interaction
• May impair cardiac tolerance w/ alcohol.
