1.0 THE CULTURAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN
JAPAN AND MALAYSIA
• Many business in Malaysia is involving Malaysian people cultural because Malaysians are
involving closely with religion
• Many Malaysian feel there must be a gap between the management and subordinates
• Cultural play important part when there are dealing with decision making process in the
organization
• In Japan, individual measurement is higher but many Japanese always take collective
responsibility for all the decision they take because they want to share the risk

• Japanese always wanted to safe face because they are very sensitive and emotional in
dealing with people especially in business and social matters.

• People in Japan are so concern of their quality effort.

• Therefore they are very careful in taking any decision so that they would not embarrass
themselves or their companies
• Japanese live with the nature with unpredictable situation of nature control the
country lead the people to live in calm manner

• They love their elders and nature surrounding them

• Malaysian people are more willing to follow the tradition decision making although
the education helping them to make some personal decision

• Malaysian like to give answer later after few days. Business decision sometimes will
end up in dead lock but Malaysians are more tolerant to resume the negotiation.
• Malaysia types of good manners and discretion like to protect the business and feeling of the
participant. Like Japanese, Malaysian also have feeling to don’t bring shame to themselves and the
companies.

• Asia countries, the word verbally “the deal is done” means the deal is legally apply into action
2.0 MALAYSIAN PRODUCTS OR SERVICES THAT
CAN BE EXTEND AND FIT INTO JAPAN MARKET

• Under the Hofstede Dimension of Culture of Malaysia and Japan, I would like to choose three type
of business which I can expand to Japan
• The business are “Rojak” (Fruits Mixture), Malaysian traditional nourishment “Nasi Lemak” and
traditional Malaysia attire “Batik Clothes”.
• I have chosen Rojak Buah and Nasi Lemak because in summer season in Japan, the people there
love to eat fruits mix.
• In winter and spring, the Japanese people would like to eat the hot and spice Nasi
Lemak

• Japanese also prefer halal food which they know it will be prepared with special
care.

• Many Muslim tourists having vacation in Japan also will want to try halal Nasi
Lemak and Rojak Buah in Japan.
• Malaysia batik with 100% cotton surface is world known for its quality
and uniqueness.

• It is colorful outfit and usually Japanese can wear in summer season


because it is made with thin clothing material

• This customary batik can be wear together with Japanese traditional outfit
Kimono.

• Surely Batik will go in various part of Japan like Hokaido, Kyushu,


Shikoku and Honshu Islands because many people may want comfort
dress compare to Kimono which has to take long time to wear it.
