WRITING Balqis Binti Redhuan SKILLS? Class: PISMP PK2 JUN 2018 CHECK WHAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN CAREFULLY
–Read the writing after you are
done. This is a good way to see your mistakes or errors you haven't noticed when you are writing it. ASK SOMEONE TO CHECK YOUR WRITING – Ask someone who has a knowledge about the language to check your writing and give their suggestion and advice on how to improve you writing. If this is ignored, no improvements will take place. IMPROVE YOUR VOCABULARY
–To do this, you can do by reading as
many as you can. Remember to take notes of the new words and try to use them in a sentence. USE DICTIONARY
–Using dictionary is not cheating as
you may think, it is in fact a very reason why dictionary exist--to help us know the unknown words. JOIN A WORKSHOP OR TAKE A NIGHT CLASS
Most people afraid of the idea of standing in
front of a room full of strangers, but joining a writing workshop can be super beneficial – and a lot of fun (if you manage to find a good one). WRITE ABOUT DIFFERENT TOPICS
–Variation is a great idea to widen
your vocabulary words and will give you an opportunity to use other words you have known. Imitate Writers You Admire
Just as you probably have a list of blogs you read often,
you’ll likely also read the same writers on a regular basis. Identify what it is you enjoy about their work, and see if you can use it to improve your writing skills. Does a writer you like use humour to spice up dry topics? Try it. Do they use pop culture references to make their work entertaining and useful? Try that, too. (Disclaimer – imitation is not the same as plagiarism. Don’t rip off anyone’s work. Ever.) DO YOUR ASSIGNMENTS
–This process will give you an
opportunity to measure your writing skills and to use the vocabulary words you have acquired. WRITE TO YOUR FRIENDS OR SOMEONE
–You can write your friends on
Whatsapp, Snapchat, chatting on Skype etc. This will improve your writing as this become part of you. WRITE A BLOG
–Writing a blog is a great way to
practice your skills in writing in English. It doesn't matter if no ones read it- who knows in the future someone will. DON'T BE AFRAID TO COMMIT MISTAKES
– The more you write and get your
writings corrected, the fewer mistakes you can make. Remember that doing a mistake AND LEARN FROM IT is better than doing nothing. LISTEN TO A LOT OF ENGLISH CONVERSATION
–Listen to any English audio and
learn new words. If you don’t know the meaning of any words, search for it and write it down in a your book or diary. DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELF
DO WHATEVER GOOD THINGS THAT WILL IMPROVE YOUR
ENGLISH. FOR EXAMPLE:
– READING – SINGING – POETRY – DANCING TO ENGLISH SONGS Remember…. THANK YOU AND ALL THE BEST FUTURE SHAKESPEARE!! ;)
