Classroom physical condition

Introduction
The definition of physical environment is simply the
physical characteristics of the room. This refers to things
like the size of the room, how dark or light it is, what the
temperature is like, whether it has carpeting or just
concrete, etc.

The major importance of the physical environment is that

it can affect students' comfort and, to some extent, their
ability to learn. Students who are uncomfortable are
unlikely to learn as well as those who are comfortable.

In addition, the environment can affect the morale of

students. If they feel their classroom is physically worse
than those of richer kids, for example, they might be
discouraged and upset and less willing to learn.
A conducive physical learning
environment is one that:

 Allows maximum interaction between teacher

and student and among students
 Allows student movement without unnecessary
distraction
 Allows teacher to survey the whole class.
 Is safe, clean and orderly;

 Is well-ventilated, spacious,
and adequately lighted and

 Makes possible re-

arrangement of chairs as the
need arises.

CONCLUSION
 If the student feels uncomfortable of the classroom
conditions, then they will have less concentration on the
lesson and so they get a little information only, from the
teacher, and thus, affecting their grades.
 Students in a positive classroom learning environment, do
not have to think of any hurtful comments from the
teacher.
 Students thrive in environments where they feel safe,
nurtured and respected. All students, even those who have
learning difficulties and extraordinary personal challenges,
can do well when they are physically comfortable, mentally
motivated and emotionally supported.
