 Beach restoration with geotextile tubes as submerged breakwaters in
Department of Ocean Engineering.

Yucatan, Mexico: Ing E. Alvareza,, Ramiro Rubiob, Herbert Ricaldeb

• Site condition:
The beaches of the Northern coast of Yucatan in Mexico have been in
a permanent erosion process estimated at1m per year .
• Proposed solution:
Woven polypropylene geotextile tubes were considered optimal for
the beach restoration project.

 Using submerged geotextile tubes in the protection
of the E. Korean shore: Young In Oh , Eun Chul Shin
Department of Ocean Engineering.

• Site condition:
Shore erosion is currently causing severe damage to shorelines and public
properties along the east coast of Korea.
• Proposed solution:
 Geotextile tube technology
 Stability analysis by 2-dimensional limit equilibrium theory
