• Each state board has a different pattern of syllabus and
marking schemes.
• Generally, the cutoff is top 1% of the respective board
• IISER Aptitude Test (IAT)
• The APTITUDE test is comparatively easier than the KVPY and
JEE Advanced Exams.
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana
(KVPY)
• Under Department of Science and Technology (DST) , organized & run by
IISc, Bangalore.
• Aim is “to identify students with talent and aptitude for research, and ensure
the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the
country.”
• Selection is done by aptitude test followed by an interview.
• Aptitude test is conducted for three different levels: (one has to choose one of
them)
– XI Science Appearing Students (SA)
– XII Science Appearing Students (SX)
– 1st year of undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (SB)
 KVPY
Advertisement Normally on the Technology Day (May 11) and the Second Sunday of
Date July every year.

• 75% in X Boards with in Math & Science

• Activated only if, 60% in XII Boards in Math & Science
