Introduction (Steering System)
 The Steering System Is Group Of Parts That Transmit The
Movement Of Steering Wheel To The Front Wheels. The Objective
Of Steering System Is To Provide Directional Control Of The
Vehicle, To Withstand High Stress In Off Terrain Conditions, To
Reduce Steering Effort And To Provide Good Response From Road
To Driver. When Vehicle Is Being Driven Straight Ahead, The
Steering System Must Keep It From Wandering Without Requiring
The Driver To Make Constant Corrections.
Need Of Steering System

1.To Avoid Accidental Causes.

2. To Get Exact Steering Angle

3.To Get Minimum Steering Revolution.

4.To Help To Swinging The Wheels Left Or Right.

5.Attain Perfect Rolling Motion Of The Wheels At All Times

Steering System Layout
Technical Specification (Steering System)

• Steering Type Rack And Pinion

• Wheel Travel (F/R) (Mm) 203.2 / 152.4

• Camber (Degree) 3°

• Caster (Degree) 5°

• Turning Radius (M) 2.355

• Steering Ratio 6.09:1

• Steering Lock To Lock Rev. 1.49 Rev. (536.4˚)

• Reduction Ratio 8.02:1

Steering Geometry In CATIA Software
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
(Steering System)
• Steering geometry Ackerman % - 100
• Total weight of steering system = 4(kg)
• Steering angles Inside :44 ͦ
• Outside:33.32 ͦ
• Turning circle radius 2355 (mm)
• Steering wheel diameter (mm) 300
• Steering wheel torque (N-m) 5.504
• Drive LHD
• Rack travel (mm) 68.46
• Turn lock to lock (rev.) 1.49 (536.4 ͦ)
• Steering ratio 6.09:1
• IBJ centre distance (mm) 200
• OBJ centre distance (mm) 471.69
• Length of tie rod (mm) 285.48
Expected outcomes:
 Steering System
1.Turning Radius of vehicle : 2.355 m

2.Expected steering ratio is 6.13:1 (mm/rev)

3.Expected torque required to turn wheels by the driver = 5.5 N-m

Introduction (Transmission System)

 The automatic transmission is a unit which supplies the power from

the Engine to the wheels .There are some types of gear transmission
system which help to improve the economy and efficiency of the
work transfer .Besides the traditional automatic transmission, there
are also other types such as continuously variable transmission
(CVT),dual clutch transmission (DCT) and automated manual
transmission system .Gear shifting strategy is the core of intelligent
control of any automatic transmission used in modern vehicles. It
directly effects the vehicle performance, drivers comfort and fuel
economy .
Need Of Power Transmission System

1. Enable Power Transmission At Varied Angles And Varied Lengths.

2. Provide Means To Drive The Driving Vehicle At Different Speed

When Required.

3. To Provide Means Of Connection And Disconnection Of Engine

With Rest Of Power Train Without Shocks And Smoothly.

4. Provide Relative Movement Between Engine And Driving Wheels.

Power transmission system layout
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
(Power-transmission System)
• CVT MODEL POLARIS = P90

• CVT Lower ratio = 3.83 : 1

• CVT Higher ratio = 0.76 : 1

• Centre to Centre distance = 254 mm

• Overall speed reduction = 8.02

• Differential speed reduction = 2.5:1
