PROPOSED DESIGN OF A FOUR-STOREY

COMMERCIAL BUILDING
WITH BASEMENT PARKING LEVEL AT BANAYAD,
MENDEZ, CAVITE

 INTRODUCTION
A commercial building is widely used for
commercial purposes such as office buildings,
warehouses or retail store. There are some
parts of Mendez, Cavite where undeveloped and
needed of commercial establishment. The
researcher decided to propose a design of four-
storey commercial building with basement
parking level at Banayad, Mendez, Cavite for the
reason that there’s so many vacant land that
needs to be developed as per the city engineer
suggestion.
 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The study will try to develop a design for
a four-storey building. Specifically, the study
aims to answer the following questions:
• what design of commercial building will provide
the most safe and economical structural integrity
of the building?;

• what is the project’s cost estimate?;

• what design of the structure is suitable for

Mendez, Cavite?
 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The general objective of the design project is
to provide a complete set of plan of a four-storey
commercial building with basement parking level at
Banayad, Mendez, Cavite. Specifically, it aims to:
1. apply all the knowledge learned in Civil Engineering
program,
2. to provide a safe and economical structural integrity
of the building,
3. to provide project cost estimate, and
4. to provide a tarpaulin output of the study.
 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The four-storey commercial building with
basement parking level will provide the basic
needs of Mendez, Cavite when it comes in
business industry and to create an atmosphere
that is conducive to entrepreneurship.
 EXPECTED OUTPUT

The proposed design project is limited to

the analysis and design of a four-storey
commercial building with basement parking
level.
• architectural plan, structural plan, electrical plan
and plumbing plan
• site development plan, analysis of structural design
of footings, columns, beams, slabs, and necessary
connections;
• Detailed structural plans as well as lighting layout,
power layout, plumbing layout and water systems
• project cost estimate of masonry works, concrete
works, steel works, earthworks, carpentry works,
electrical works and plumbing works
• final output of the project that will be placed in a
tarpaulin
 BUDGETARY ESTIMATE

The estimated cost of the study from the

conceptualization of outline, gathering of
data, and preparation of manuscript up to
the production of the final manuscript is
approximately Php 12,000.00
