Yoga is a mind, body, and spiritual connection. The goal of yoga is to
bring balance into the body physically, mentally and emotionally.

Student 11

Student 12 The assessment was done by using this checklist. 2

Student 13 teachers walked around assessing the students to see
Student 14 if they hit each critical element of that pose, while the
other teacher was instructing. We gave the students 3
trials to try and accomplish each cue.

BALANCE
TRUSTWORTHINESS
• Reliable?-Yes it is reliable since we used the same criteria for both pre and post
assessments.

• Valid?- Yes it was accurate since our data was consistent throughout the pre and post
assessments.

• Objective?- Yes, it was fair and without bias because we had 3 teachers collect the data and
found similar results for each student.

• Practical?- Yes it was feasible because the only thing we needed were yoga mats

• Authentic? –It was close to “real-life” as possible. Unfortunetly, Yoga isn't a skill you can
practice in a game situation.
COGNITIVE DOMAIN
• Objective: At the end of class, students will have an exit slip that focuses on what
we learned in class.

• Standards: New York State Standard 2A, National Standard 4

• Data Collection: Written Assessment

Pre Post
TRUSTWORTHINESS
• Reliable?- We changed the information from the pre assessment to the post assessment,
our data is not reliable.

• Valid?- It cant be accurate if it isn’t consistent throughout both assessments.

• Objective?-Our pre test wasn’t fair because our exit slip had nothing to do with the skills that
they learned; while our post test was more focused on skill based learning.

• Practical?- The cost was minimum as well as it was very easy to administer.

• Authentic?- The assessment was in a situation close to “real-life” as possible.

AFFECTIVE DOMAIN
• Objective: At the beginning of class, students will demonstrate cooperation by
performing each pose positively, while respecting themselves/ peers.

• Standards: New York State Standard 1B, National Standard 2

• Data Collection: Pre: Exit Slip/ Post: Teacher Observation

Answer

Pre-test Post-test
yes no
TRUSTWORTHINESS
• Reliable-? No, because we used teacher observation during the post test, and you cant
assess how a student feels by observing them.

• Valid?-In our pre test our data was accurate because students were provided an objective
way to individually tell us how they felt about the class. While in our post test, they were
asked as a whole.

• Objective?- Pre test was objective while the post test was not, therefore it was not fair.

• Practical?-The pre test was practical but there were no means of data collection for the post
test.

• Authentic?- Yes, this assessment occurred in a “real-life” setting.

REFLECTIONS
• Our cognitive assessment should have been more effective for the pre test
• Our affective assessment should have been more effective for the post test

• Unfortunetly, our criteria changed in the cognitive domain from the pre test to the
post test. We made our pre test based off of random knowledge about yoga,
whereas our post test was skill based. Therefore, this ruins the reliability in our tests
which makes it not valid because there is no consistency.

• For the affective domain in the post test, we assessed the class as a whole instead
of assessing them individually like the pre test which is more reliable and valid.

• For next time, we understand how to properly assess how students by keeping
things consistent and accurate.
