WHAT IS DRONE ?
‘An unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV),
commonly known as a DRONE is
an
aircraft without a human pilot on
board.
HISTORY OF DRONES
 In the mid-1800s Austria sent unmanned,
bomb filled balloons to attack Venice.
• The drone seen today started innovation
in the early 1900s and was originally used
for target practice to train military
personnel.
• The earliest attempt at a powered UAV
was A. M. Low’s Aerial Target of 1916.
INTRODUCTION
•A drone is an aircraft that flies without a crew on board.

•A UAV is capable of controlled,

sustained level flight and is
powered by a jet.
• Drones are made of light
composite materials to
reduce weight and increase
maneuverability.
•Drones can be controlled by
remote control system or a
.
ground cockpit.
WORKING
The drone is generally an octocopter, that is it has eight
rotor blades arranged in an octagonal manner.

Rotation creates the pressure difference.

Required thrust power is distributed equally.

COMPONENTS
Central hub consists of
 Battery
 Motor
 Receiver
 Processing unit
 GPS
 Wide array of electronic sensors
 This should be as lighter as possible for
greater load carrying capacity.
How drone is operated
The launching of target
drone is controlled of
in commanding centre.
It is monitored by
commanding officers
called Combat System
Officers in the
operating system.
RADAR POSTIONING
 The flight radar displays the current position and
location of the drone in relation to the pilot.
 Exceeding the control range of the remote control will
trigger ‘Return-to-Home’, meaning the UAV will
automatically fly back to its takeoff point and land safely.
SCOPE OF THE TECHNOLOGY
CUSTOMER-
• Quick delivery
• Non-existent demand
SERVICE PROVIDER-
• Race against time
• Efficient delivery
• Minimizing human
involvement
• Cater Niche demands
SOCIETY-
• Reaches beyond roads.
• Nature and wildlife
protection
TYPES
•Drones are of two types:
•MQ-9 Reaper, a hunter killer surveillance
UAV and they are usually deployed for
military and special applications.
•DJI Phantom UAV for commercial and
recreational aerial photography.
EXISTING USES
 MILITARY
 SPORTS
 SEARCH AND RESCUE
 PHOTOGRAPHY
 PROTECTING WILDLIFE
 JOURNALISM
 FILMING
 DELIVERY
 DISASTER MANAGEMENT
ADVANTAGES
 Surpassing the traffic
 Used in dangerous environments
 Can record high speed
 Aerial Photography
 Natural and manmade disasters
 Infrastructure maintenance
 Streamline Agriculture Management
 Packages delivery
DISADVANTAGES
 May violate right to privacy
 GPS signals tend to drop between tall
buildings
 Causes damage to human and property if
short circuit occurs
INNOVATIONS
CONCLUSION
 It is obvious that drone technology is an
important part of the future warfare and
is set to become a big commercial
industry.
