Introduction
• When the Structures made of Concrete are demolished or
Renovated, Concrete recycling is an increasingly common
method of utilizing the rubble.
• Following a normal growth in population, the amount and type
of waste materials have increased accordingly.
• The Problem of waste accumulation exists worldwide,
specifically in the densely populated areas.
• Most of these materials are left as stockpiles, Landfill material
or illegally dumped in selected areas.
• However, the environmental impact can be reduced by making
more sustainable use of this waste. This is known as the Waste
Hierarchy.
Aim and Objectives

•The goal of project a reuse of construction and demolition waste to

improve the economic performance of waste management and to solve
the problem construction and demolition waste disposals.

•solve the problem of the construction and demolition waste disposal.

•To describes the air pollution and land pollution due to construction and
demolition waste disposal.
•To use the waste materials in new construction and reduce the
overall cost of project.

•To use various waste materials in construction units.

•Recycle coarse aggregates should be use a new construction

road.

•The construction and demolition waste should be use in road

filling materials.

•To reduce the waste generated from structures.

Problem specification
•To provide waste minimization benefits by avoiding the use of landfill
space and reducing resource consumption.

•Waste recycling can to a grade extent reduce environmental cause by

incorrect disposals, extend the useful life landfill and preserve precious
finite natural resources.

•The demolition crust brick and sanitary waste use for concrete.

•Recycling of construction and demolition waste can save energy, time

and money.
Construction waste
• Construction waste consist of unwanted material produced
directly or indirectly by the construction & demolition.
• Construction Waste is anything generated as a result of
construction and then regardless of whether it has been processed
or stockpiles. It comprises surplus materials from site clearance,
excavation, construction, renovation, demolition and road works.
• These include roofing, concrete block, plaster, structural steel,
plumbing fixtures, electrical wiring, heating and ventilation
equipment, windows and doors etc.
• Construction waste does not include materials identified as solid
waste, infectious waste or hazardous waste.
Commonly Recovered Construction &
Demolition Materials

• Marbal
• Wood
• Metals
• Concrete
• Bricks
• Tiles
• Plastic
Metals:-
Common metals include steel, aluminum, and copper. Metals are
melted down and reformed into metal products.
Concrete :-
It is crushed, the
reinforcement bar
is removed, and
the material is
screened for size.
Market outlets
for recycled
concrete include
road base,
general fill,
pavement
aggregate, and
drainage media.
Brick :-
Recycle clean brick by crushing material. Market
outlets for recycled brick include aggregate,
drainage media, and general fill
Reuse of Construction Waste

Things We Done:-

1. Visit of site
2. Observation the things which are on site
- We See that Max Demolition waste is concrete.
- So we Decided to reuse of such reusable concrete.
- We use Concrete as a aggregate.
- Then we do analysis like sieve analysis
Procedure: Compressive Strength Test
of Concrete Cubes
For cube test two types of specimens either cubes 15cm x 15cm x
15cm Or 10cm x 10cm x 10cm depending upon the size of
aggregate are used. For most of the works cubical moulds of size
15cm x 15cm x 15cm are Commonly used.
Hand Mixing :-
(i)Add the concrete waste material which we converted
into coarse aggregate and fine aggregate from the waste
concrete which we collect from demolition site by the help
of sieve analysis.

(ii)Add the coarse aggregate and mix with cement and fine
aggregate until the coarse aggregate is uniformly
distributed throughout the batch.

(iii)Add water and mix it until the concrete appears to be

homogeneous and of the desired consistency.
Following are the procedure for testing
Compressive strength of Concrete Cubes :-

1.Compression testing machine

2.Preparation of Concrete Cube Specimen
3.The proportion and material for making these test specimens are
from the same concrete used in the field.
4.Apparatus for Concrete Cube Test
Strength calculation After 14 days :

Sr no. Weight of Load Strength

cube ( KN ) ( KN/mm2 )
( kg )

1 8.054 375 16.67

2 7.400 364 16.18

3 7.542 365 16.22

4 8.380 380 16.89

5 7.567 367 16.30

Strength calculation After 28 days :

Sr no. Weight of Load Strength

cube ( KN ) ( KN/mm2 )
( kg )

1 9.24 430 20.59

2 9.10 447 19.89

3 9.57 463 20.70

4 10.07 456 20.50

5 9.30 450 20.80

Factors that assess the Quality of
recycled Aggregate :-

• Size distribution : that recycled aggregates either fine or coarse

can be obtained by crushing.

• Absorption : high in recycled aggregates than in natural

aggregates.

• Abrasion resistance : use of such aggregates as sub base in

flexible pavements show promising results
Admixtures

•Fly Ash
•Lime stone powder Waste
•Sugarcane fiber waste
•Steel slag
•Glass powder
•Wood powder
•STRENGTH OF CUBE AFTER 14 DAYS:

Sr. No. Weight of cube Load Strength

(kg) (KN) (KN/mm2)
1 8.640 495 22.05
2 8.560 490 21.85
3 8.300 475 21.18
4 9.170 460 20.40
5 9.320 512 22.78

•STRENGTH OF CUBE AFTER 28 DAYS:

Sr. No. Weight of cube Load Strength

(kg) (KN) (KN/mm2)
1 9.450 605 26.85
2 9.350 561 24.95
3 9.120 566 25.17
4 9.500 558 24.83
5 9.850 617 27.45
Benefits :-
• Reduces the production of greenhouse gas emissions
and other pollutants by reducing the need to extract raw
materials and ship new materials long distances
• Conserves landfill space reduces the need for landfills
and their associated cost.
• Saves energy and reduces the environmental impact of
producing new materials.
• Creates employment opportunities and economic
activities in recycling industries.
• Saves money.
Facts :-

•Its very well known that construction is second largest industry after
agriculture.

•It is approximate 40% of material of consumption worldwide is for

construction and repair of built environment.

•Buildings account for one-sixth of the world fresh water withdrawals,

one-quarters of its wood harvest, and two-fifths of its material and
energy flow.
How to get start for it……

• Developing market for recycled products.

• Public education , Training and Technical Assistance
• Additional policy Recommendations
• Promoting recycling
