• Proteins consist of meat,
poultry, fish, eggs, nuts, and
beans.
• It is important to consume
protein to build healthy
muscles, skin, nails, and have
enough energy for daily
activities.

• Fruits are important for


daily consumption because
they provide many needed
vitamins and nutrients and
fiber to maintain healthy
digestion.
Vegetables
• Vegetables are important because they
provide many vitamins and can help
with immune system function.
Grains
• Grains consist of food made from rice, wheat, oats,
cornmeal, or barley.
• Grains are important because they are a good
source of dietary fiber which aids in digestion, and
carbohydrates which help maintain energy levels.
Dairy

• Any food made from milk: cheese, yogurt,


cream, ect.
• Dairy is important part of the diet because
it is a good source of calcium which is
important for bone development.
Oils

• Oils are fats which are liquid at


room temperature.
• Examples: olive oil, canola oil, corn
oil, soybean oil, ect.
• Too much fats are unhealthy,
however, fatty acid is necessary for
healthy brain function.
