Key Objectives

■ MCSO 6 yr. old registered non profit organization.


■ Tutorials on academic subjects
■ Career guidance, counseling and seminars
■ Family and social gatherings
■ Sports and recreation events (picnics, multicultural evenings)
■ Job fairs and career workshops.
■ Career Workshop: to be announced
■ Eid/Ramadan Fair/Bazar: Nov 7 Saturday at Bay shore

Award Ceremony: May 6th , Sunday, 3.00 PM - 5.30 PM
■ Each Tutor and Coordinators equal
■ Each can contribute at all or any level
■ Can volunteer for Web site or other activities

Career Guidance and Tutoring

■ 1)To offer individual assistance to small groups of students in evening classes that
helps to improve their academic performance in English, French, Mathematics,
Science, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
■ 2)To assist challenged students whose mother tongue is not English to deal with
school work where knowledge of the language is especially important
■ 3)To provide opportunities for high school students to obtain credit for community
activities
■ 4)To provide an environment for the unemployed youths ( high school, university,
new immigrants) to get Canadian job experience, help the community by providing
useful service and also earn a small amount of money to meet pocket expenses
■ 5)to provide assistance in job hunting, career development including resume writing,
interview process, contacting potential employers and submitting applications
■ 6)Giving references for students for potential employers and universities
■ 7)Giving an avenue to have forum for multicultural social evenings
■ 8)Gives an opportunity to do networking and develop contacts with other students,
parents, tutors and social activities.
■ 9)The career guidance and tutoring service is open to students of all ethnic
backgrounds.

■ Quality: Value for Money


■ Reliability: Take it seriously, come to all assigned
class
■ Punctuality: Show example by Coming in time
and going in time
■ Intention: To please Allah (SWT) by serving the
community
■ Honorarium: We pay a very little money
compared to the service provided
■ Tutors find pleasure in serving the community

Tutoring Organization Structure

■ Each Center Self Contained


– Coordinator/Director overall in charge
– Deputy Coordinator
– Up to 3 more member from tutors
– Tutors’ appointment
– Fees Collection (Pre-paid before the month)
– Tutors’ by monthly honorarium preparation
– Center Booking and Payment
– Local Training once in a month 30 minutes
– Local publicity
– Local activities ( parent, students, tutors meeting/gathering)
– Prayer arrangement
– Communication with Central MCSO once in a month

Fees Collection and Tutors payment

■ To make reduced overhead, payments are paid by


monthly
■ Payments: Dec, Feb, April, June
■ Classes in 3 terms: 15 Sept- 15 Dec., 10 Jan - 31 March,
1 April - 15th June
■ New class schedule ready by last Sunday of each month
for the next Month
■ Pre-payment of student fees by 4th week for next month
■ Work as team with coordinator for Fees collection
■ All transaction through Bank only
■ All fees collected must be through receipt only

Publicity, advertisement and Interaction with
Local Community

■ Tutors to interact with local musallah, Community


■ Help organize local activities, events, pot lucks
■ Volunteer to popularize the MCSO activities
■ Feel MCSO is you organization
■ Wok as proactive to prevent incidents
■ Always be prompt to solve problems, issues
■ No private interaction with Students but with Parents

Goals for Next Year

■ Increase form 2 days in a week to 3 days in a week


■ Open one more center
■ Increase students in each center by 50%
■ Make MCSO tutoring to be helping the children of
Ottawa Community
■ Increase MCSO activities in other areas
■ Increase Honorarium for Tutors
■ Seek alternate Funding source
