SITE VISIT- LDS CHURCH
History

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints is a church founded in the days of

Jesus Christ and restored by Joseph Smith in 1830. As Joseph was praying one day to
know which church to join, he had a vision in which God the Father and Jesus Christ
appeared to him to tell him none of the churches were true and he was to restore the
true church again upon the earth. He later translated the Book of Mormon, which
members of this church read and believe to be holy scripture.

Conclusion
● After conducting our research we found that Salt Lake Cities dominate religion is
the LDS faith. Which was not a surprise because Utah is the headquarters of
Mormon church.
● Oregon on the other hand is not so heavy towards a single religion rather its
population is more religiously diverse.
● Our first site visit was to the LDS church which was a very welcoming, friendly
place and is a very community based religion.
● The second site visit was to the Al-Huda Islamic center, this community had
much different practices than the LDS church.” The path of righteous” was one of
the most memorable and interesting tradition.
● Overall this project gave us the opportunity to explore and understand a
Christian and Non-Christian religion, compare statistics of Salt Lake city to Utah,
Oregon, and the nation.
