Occupants: Jorge and Esther have 3 grown children that live outside of home. Jorge is a journeyman, electrician. Esther is a
stay at home grandmother.

Special Considerations: Esther has her children over quite often and the grandchildren love to hang out in the living room. Clients: Esther and Jorge Morales
Lifestyle: Esther and Jorge live a casual life. Jorge works full-time and comes back in the early evening. Esther takes care of
her grandchildren at home.

Hobbies: They both come from Mexican heritage and enjoy to cook in their kitchen. Jorge spends time in the garage and builds
honey-to-dos. Esther enjoys to crochet blankets and clothing for her grandchildren.

Space to be designed: Living Room

Entertaining: They have many family gatherings throughout the year. They have special occasions in the living room. They have
a group of friends that they like to have casual parties with about 3-4 couples.

Daily activities for space: Reading, relaxing. The room is used for entertaining.

Favorite colors: They both prefer the color blue and Esther prefers a light blue.

Room impressions: Comfortable and inviting.

Favorite wood: Glass and natural wood.

Desired style: Modern, contemporary style. Esther loves the colors gray and blue together, Jorge would like to have some
natural wood furniture.

Items to keep: Family photos on the wall.

Budget: $15,000.

Schedule: Complete by August.

Problem Statement: Currently Jorge and Esther do not have enough seating when they entertain. They would like new sofa
and/or chairs to accommodate
more seating (6) for casual entertaining. Fabric selection should be durable enough for the grandchildren. There are some space
challenges, as the room may be small to accommodate the requested seating. Optional flexible seating as in an ottoman. I am
very excited to work with Jorge and Esther on designing a comfortable space that they will enjoy with company.
Design Program
Clients
The clients for this project are a married couple. They have 3 grown children with grandchildren. There are no special physical needs to be met by the clients. The clients have
two pets a small dog and a cat, they are both indoor pets. They have gatherings throughout the year and use the living room often. The space is used for entertaining
grandchildren and having special occasions take place. The space is usually the opening present room or receiving company.

Design Concept
The concept that will guide the selections for the space is modern. They would like something new, with no children living at home. The wife would like off white flooring from
the entrance toward the kitchen, the living room would have gray carpet. The color palette, accessories and patterns will reflect the client's’ love for the colors blue and white.
They both known that with grandchildren it is harder to keep a light palette choice clean, but they prefer a modern design because it is cool and comfortable.

Colors and Materials

The fabric for the sofas will need to be a leather texture, durable and easy to clean and wipe off due to the indoor pets and grandchildren spills. The color scheme will
incorporate cool and neutral colors for large surfaces (floor, walls, sofa) accent colors will be chosen in pillows and curtains and accessories. They also would like to incorporate
some greenery. The flooring will be durable and easy to clean.

Space Requirements
The clients desire to create a room better suited for entertaining, but it will be mostly used when company is over. They do not need storage for books or other miscellaneous
things because they have a closet downstairs where they keep everything and a larger family room. They want furniture that is durable but light weight because at times they
take family photos in the living room. They prefer a more open floor plan

The space has a built in seating area by the bay window
