INTRODUCTION

 SUN SEED NIGERIA LIMITED is member of

Kewalram Chanrai group, Sunseed Nigeria
limited was established and incorporated in the
year 1997 and mandated to;

 Production of vegetable oil, animal feed and soap

stock from soybeans and

 To ensure the supply of quality vegetable oil.

DIVISIONS
Sunseed Nigeria limited comprises of six(6) units which are;
 Solvent extraction plant,
 Boiler unit,
 Preparatory unit,
 Laboratory unit,
 Refinery plant,
 Maintenance unit.
SUMMARY OF WORK
EXPERIENCE
 The experience gained in Sunseed Nigeria limited has
provided me with visual and well understood application
of chemical engineering courses.

INDUSTRIAL PROJECT

The project report was based on the performance evaluation of

an oil water separator (case study of Sunseed Nigeria
Limited)

Outline cont.
 Introduction: Separator is a device that separates
water from oil.
 Aim and objectives; The aim of this IT research is to
evaluate the performance of an oil water separator,
using Sunseed oil mill as a case study and to Determine
the efficiency.

RESULTS

S/N DATE Volume of oil Expected volume of efficiency of

recovered (m3) oil (m3) separator (%)

1. 6 9.02 14.38 62.72

1. 10 11.38 17.55 64.72

1. 16 16.48 25.20 65.42

1. 20 7.20 10.50 68.31

1. 23 7.69 11.44 67.22

DISCUSSION OF RESULT

 The table shows the volume of oil recovered and also

the efficiency of the separator (62-68%) which is the
ratio of the volume of oil recovered to the theoretical
(expected) volume of oil with a deviation of 30-40%
which is due to density gradient, incomplete separation
and some sand particles that accepted from the grit
trap.
CONCLUSION
 I gained a lot of knowledge experience of the day-to-
day operations in the plant and I have seen visually all
the unit operations treated in class such as the
separators, heat exchangers etc.
