CONCEPT OF STATE

STATE:
Is a community of persons more
or less numerous, permanently
occupying a definite portion of
territory having a government of
their own to which the great body
of inhabitants render obedience,
and enjoying freedom from
external control.
NATION:

A large body of people united by common


descent , history, culture or language,
inhabiting a particular state or territory.

 Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon,


Jordan, Algeria and Libya, while each
a separate state, all belong to the
nation.

PEOPLE:
A community of persons
sufficient in number and
capable of maintaining the
continued existence of the
community and held together
by common bond.
Territory

 Is the fixed portion of the surface of


the earth by the people of the state.

The components of territory are the


land mass, otherwise known as the
terrestrial domain, the inland and
external waters, make up the
maritime and fluvial domain and the
air space above the land and waters,
which called the aerial domain.
GOVERNMENT:

 Refers to the agency through which the will of the


state is formulated, expressed and carried out.

FUNCTIONS OF THE GOVERNMENT:

1. CONSTITUENTS (GOVERNMENTAL)
Are the compulsory functions which constitute
the very bonds of society.

2. MINISTRANTS:
Optional functions of the government for
achieving a better life for the community
SOVEREIGNTY:
Supreme power of the state to command and
enforce obedience to its will from people
within its jurisdiction and corollarily , to have
freedom, from foreign control

KINDS:
1. LEGAL:
Is the authority which has the power to issue
final command.

2. POLITICAL:
 is the power behind the legal sovereign or the
sum of the influences that operate it.
