tourists arrival to India – 70% business coming from Foreign tourists for
hotels around India.

• Foreign tourist arrival(FTA) into India was 10.04 million in 2017


• 15.6% growth from previous year which recorded 8.8 million FTA
• 5.77 million NRI arrivals in India with a growth of 9.7% from previous year.
• 14.57 million International Tourists Arrivals(ITA) with a growth of 9.7% from
previous year.
• Mysore receives over 2 million tourists annually.
• City aims to target 5 million tourists by 2020.

Mysore People and Tourism Trend in City

• They like open restaurants and open areas- Preferably with a roof but no
walls. Courtyards are preferred even within their homes.
• Artistic, social people – The city is brimming with cultural activities and
get-togethers- making it idea for venues.
• Traditional people – They crowd is mostly vegetarian and prefer a
separate kitchen for the vegetarian food if possible. This also means that
they do not travel elsewhere or to hotels during festivities which is a
time for them to get-together within their own homes. Local tourists do
not travel to hotels during this time.
• Mysore city is increasingly being known for it’s wellness activities –Yoga
and ashrams (Ayurveda, Siddha, Naturopathy) are doing a very good job
and so is medical tourism with tourists arriving mostly from within
Karnataka – smaller towns around Mysore.
