Palantine and Lingual tonsils

*The most known tonsils are


the Palantine Tonsils

and 2 unpaired tonsils –


Pharyngeal (Adenoid) and
Tubal tonsils
What are Tonsils for?
• Tonsils are part of our immune system – the
protective mechanism of our body against
foreign pathogens.
• First line of defense against foreign pathogens
like bacteria and viruses.
• It has white blood cells which recognize and
eat these foreign pathogens.
