SANITATION SURVEY

INTRODUCTION

 Chambal Fertilisers and Chemical Ltd. joined hands


with the Govt. of India to implement sanitation
program in nearby villages. The goal was to provide
villagers with clean toilets so that they can lead a
healthy, disease-free life.
 The survey included 5 villages, covering 10
households in each village.
 Toilets were constructed from a corpus fund created
by the government and CFCL in two phases.

 5 out of 10 households do not use toilets and 2


from the remaining has limited use.
 Toilets were built in 2011-12.

 Sewage tank size was not sufficient from the


villagers’ perspective.
 Villagers had the notion that sting and smell
would come from toilet use.

 Nearly all households regularly use toilets.


 Toilets were built during 2014.

 Toilet seats had sunk from the initial position.

 Most villagers felt that they were benefitted from

 Newly built toilets were in good condition.

Phase-1 toilets construction was undertaken during 2011-2013 whereas Phase-2


toilets construction work was undertaken during 2014-2015.
RURAL SANITATION PROGRAMMES
This survey reveals significant
progress in improving sanitary
habits of villagers. Further progress
can be made by identifying
“champion ambassador” and
promoting the cause through him.
Lead by example approach can be
followed.
 A synergistic relationship
between champion ambasadors and
CSR Field Cordinators can catalyze
our efforts and bring more
discernible effects.
There should be programmes
regarding the importance of
cleanliness and importance of using Lead by example
toilets.
Students can be involved in
cleanliness awareness drives.
Gadepan need more attention.
