It’s about pushing your limits and venturing beyond your comfort zone..

It’s about finding yourself and others, too!

Why Study Abroad?
Studying abroad is more than just education, it’s a
holistic experience

Earning an international degree is not only about

expanding your career and personal horizons but also
about having an experience of a lifetime. Here are
some of the reasons why you should consider studying
internationally:
1. Diverse course options to choose from
Studying internationally offers a wider variety of courses,
some also including research options and skill-based
training for students. This helps expand your horizons and
opens up a world of new educational opportunities. Not
only this, certain programs abroad also allow you to
take different courses at the same time. So you can
pursue your interest in literature whilst studying
mathematics as your major. IDP partners with more than
700 top universities and schools across the world;
whatever you are looking for – from a course that is
highly ranked for research to a unique study
environment – we can help find the best fit for you.
2. Makes you more employable
Graduates who’ve chosen to study internationally are
highly sought after by employers. Pursuing a degree
overseas signals employers that you have courage,
flexibility, cultural awareness and an understanding of how
other people work and think. This experience puts you
ahead of the pack when it comes to internships and job
applications.
3. From learning a language to living a language
Studies have shown that immersion is the best way to
become fluent in another language and understand a
new culture. Since you'll be interacting with English
language speakers every day, it would be easier to
grasp the language in relevant cultural context.
Living, studying and working in English might seem to be
challenging at first, but you’ll be surprised at how quickly
it becomes your second nature. Communicating
confidently in English will help you to excel in your studies
and make new friends from other parts of the world who
may even become professional connections down the
road.
4. Brings you international exposure

Studying abroad helps you learn new approaches to

handle different situations, manage time between your
studies and part-time jobs, experience international
methods of instructing and deal with a cosmopolitan
crowd. This in turn also helps to increase your acumen on
the subject and life, in general.
5. You gain a global perspective
Students who study abroad develop a well-informed
mindset and wider perspective towards other cultures
and people. Whether you’re studying science, politics
or finance, being able to think from a multinational
perspective will help you face modern challenges and
come up with innovative solutions in future. You will
graduate with a richer set of experiences that will allow
you to think more openly and creatively. As you learn
to view the world through different lenses, you’ll also
learn new things about your own country and culture.
6. An experience of a lifetime
Your study abroad experience doesn’t end at the
campus gates. During weekends and holidays, you’ll
have the chance to travel to tourist hotspots or get off
the beaten track in your chosen country. That means you
will be able to experience geographies different that
from India and come back with interesting stories for your
friends and family. You never know you might end up
finding an activity that you enjoy doing and make a
career in it.

Why German?
1. German is easy to acquire
Let’s start off by debunking the myth that German is especially
hard. Despite all the jokes that are being made about it being an
impossible language, if you are an English speaker, you are
actually already quite advantaged.

This is because German and English share the same Germanic root.
Consequently, there are many thousands of words which are
closely related known as “cognates.” For example, the
English chin is Kinn in
German. Water becomes Wasser and father turns into Vater. Not
so hard after all, is it?
2. German is the language of inventors
and innovators
It is said that Germany is the country of poets and thinkers – Das Land der
Dichter und Denker. There is definitely no denying the second part. A large
percentage of the world’s most impressive achievements were first conceived
of in German.

Over one hundred Nobel Prizes have gone to brilliant Germans for
accomplishments in physics, medicine, chemistry, literature and other areas.
That is not even counting the prizes awarded to people from the other two
major German-speaking countries Austria and Switzerland. Plus, many of the
recipients from other nations received their training at German universities.

So if you are looking to add a Nobel Prize to your resume, learning German
might not be a bad place to start. Perhaps you have slightly lower goals, and
are just looking to absorb some of this genius by reading famous publications in
their native language.
3. German is an important language in
academia
With that big a number of award-winning scientists from its
home country, it might not come as a surprise that German is
very important in the academic community. In fact, it ranks
second as the most commonly used scientific language.

One of the reasons for this is that the German book market is
the third largest in the world, right after the Chinese and
English publishing industries. Since the percentage of these
books that are being translated into other languages is fairly
limited, only a knowledge of German will give you access to
them.
4. German is the gateway to a world-class higher
education
One of the reasons why German has such a high standing in the
science community is the fact that Germany’s universities have an
excellent international reputation. In the year 2011 ,the country
was the fourth most popular destination for students from abroad
with more than a quarter million foreigners being enrolled in
German schools.
What’s more, the German system for higher education boasts a
number of universities with a very low or non-existent tuition fee. No
wonder scholars and researchers are flocking there! Learning
German to save on student debt sounds like a pretty good return
of investment.
 5. Germany is an economic powerhouse
 6. German companies are global market leaders
 7. German is the most widely spoken native language in Europe
 8. German has a big online presence
 9. Germans are everywhere
 10. German culture is part of the world heritage
