ANGKAS
▸ Angkas is a curb-side delivery service,
where users can book a biker to get a
safe and efficient service

▸ Angkas is a popular transportation

application similar to Grab, only that the
vehicles available are motorcycles

▸ They are widely used in Metro Manila

because of its efficiency to travel from
Point A to Point B

▸ It is embroiled in a controversy with the

LTFRB because of certain safety
concerns
FACTS OF THE CASE

▸ Noelle was a constant client of Angkas when the incident

happened.

▸ On January 20, she was on her way to work aboard an

Angkas when upon alighting, she burned her right leg when
it came into contact with the vehicle’s exhaust (tambutcho)

▸ She was brought to the hospital and suffered 1st to 2nd

degree burns on her leg

▸ Angkas only reimbursed Noelle for the medicine she bought,

but not all her hospitalization expenses, which she claims
amounts to more or less P20,000.

▸ It must be noted that Angkas Drivers furnish their

motorcycles with heat protectors for their exhaust as part of
their safety precautions for its rider-customers.

▸ However, by one reason or another, the Angkas unit Noelle

rode on was lacking such safety precaution
▸ Furthermore, Noelle had to take a leave from work (which are
convertible to cash) which she would have not taken had she
not been hospitalized

▸ Noelle sent an e-mail regarding the reimbursement that she

claims from Angkas, to no avail

▸ Noelle is a first year law student from the UST but because of
the injury she sustained, she had to take a leave of absence,
thereby delaying her studies

▸ Now, she comes to us seeking for the possible remedies that

she might take in order to claim reimbursement, or if possible,
damages for the injury that she incurred.
