LESSON 7

Evaluation Of
Technology
Learning
The standard student evaluation of
learning must be change.
 this is justified by the
fact that not only has the
new generation change
into digital learners , but
the traditional world has
metamorphosed into
digital word
Traditional world

• the instruction,
assessment and
evaluation are using
traditional way of
teaching and the
instruction materials
and technologies are
not yet modern.
Digital world
• assessment needs to
conform, not with the
literacy of the past
century but the new
literacy of the 21st
century. This is a literacy
that uses digital tools in
preparing students to
face a high-tech world.
Teacher must adopt to new mindset
both for instruction and evaluation.
• Evaluation must be geared to assessment of essential
knowledge and skills so that learners can function
effectively, productively and creatively in a new world.
• It must used evaluative tools that measures the new
the new basic skills of 21st century digital culture
namely: solution fluency, information fluency,
collaboration fluency, creative fluency, media
fluency and digital citizenship.
Solution Fluency
• - is the ability to think
creatively to solve
problems in real time by
clearly defining the
problem designing an
appropriate solution,
delivering the solution
and then evaluating the
process and outcome
Information Fluency
• Is the ability to critically
think while engaging with
creating and utilizing
information and technology
regardless of format or flat
form. Specifically an
information fluent individual
is able to recognize the
need for information
Collaboration Fluency

• Team working
profiency that has
reach the
unconscious ability
to work
cooperatively with
others.
Creativity Fluency

• How artistic
profiency adds
meaning through
design, art, and
story telling
Media Fluency

• Our visual learning

capacity needs
stimulation with rich
media from a variety
of different sources
Digital citizenship

Uses the principles of

leadership, ethics,
accountability, fiscal,
responsibility environmental
awareness, global
citizenship and personal
responsibilty
The above six fluencies reflect
process skills in:

• Reading for example single text reading become less

important compared with the empowerment process of
being imbedded by varied informative, educational and
recreational literature, textual , audiovisual, digital.
• In the process of writing reports, essay, article, stories,
PowerPoint presentation, video scripts, drama skits, etc.
As students engaged in the problem-
solving process assessment will only need
to focus on the 4Ds.
• Define – carefully considered the problem
• Design- carefully create a step by step plan to solve
the problem
• Do – execute the plan
• Debrief- carefully review the final product
 it will empower students to solve problems using
higher level and theoretical and practical thinking
Mass Amateurization

• Today the change in evaluation approach is referred to

as amateurization a term implies a mass reach of
students outputs. The personal and group creative
activities in school, should aim at bridging the gap
between amateur creators of output to professional
creators of future outcomes and product in the real
world.
Evaluation
1. Directions: Write T if the statement is correct
and F if the statement is wrong.
____1.Assessment needs to conform, not with the literacy
of the past century but the new literacy of the 21st
century. This is a literacy that uses digital tools in
preparing students to face a high-tech world.

____2. Today the change in evaluation approach is

referred to as mass amateurization, a term which implies
a mass reach of student outputs.
____3. Today, students are expected to be cognitive only.

____4. The six fluencies reflect process skills.

2. Enumeration:
5 – 10. Enumerate the six fluencies.
Assignment

• Visualize the world after 50 years in

modern technology. Express it on a bond
paper by making a poster using different
colors
