Problem Overview

 Aim: Plant for manufacturing 10 t/d of a specialty chemical


 Only one successful project is present located in China.
 Its capacity is 50 t/d.
 Some other company tried to do project but stopped halfway through
 Process expert hint towards serious Flaws in scale up.
 Technical consultant our company is same as of other company who tried
earlier

Risk involved

 We require to collect data related to process and it require time which


increase estimated cost of project.
 We don’t have information about abandoned project by other company,
it may be deciding factor for our case too.
 Technological key-how present in Chinese company can be useless in our
case due to different set of policy, resources, geography or infrastructure of
industrial corridor.
 We have to know technical details. If we don’t have it, we should stop
project further.
 The Prominent scientist’s advice on this technology development and
implementation in project is key requirement.

technical infrastructure.
Segregate problem according to
difficulty level
 In high difficulty level task we can took professional consultant with skilled
man power from abroad.it is not directly research and development of
project but exploring ways to sideway the difficulty faced.
 It involve technical, methodological and logical reasoning.
 Need consistent processes for managing ambiguous checkpoints
Getting Data from another division

 In case the company has well established research facility,assessment of


technical difficulties should carried out

Managing Scale by Managing Complexity

 Determine the maximum scale up of process


 If we can do 1tone/day production, evaluate its business value and
advantage.
 If it fits our criteria, evaluate timetable of supply chain timetable.
 It can give us opportunity to run the plant continually or increase number of
small plants.
