depart.
Usual process they do is checked in the guests,
establish terms of payment, guests claim the
keys, fill out client information cards, guests
surrender the keys and make a last minute room
check to ensure that no other charges apply.
Housekeeping

 Takes care of the upkeep of rooms, the toilet facilities, the laundry
and the cleanliness of all the other parts of the establishment.
 They are also in charge of all other necessities in the delivery of the
services for the guests’ stay such as:
 Cleaning the rooms
 Changing the linen
 Replenishing all room, mini bar and toilet supplies
 Other services requested by guests like laundry and turning down beds.
Lobby

Likened to a foyer in the home.

Hotels

The most significant, visible and recognizable of all

types of accommodations.
They have different categories labeled as stars.
Guests House, Bed and Breakfast or Inns

 Type of accommodation that offer a home-type environment,

which is cozier and lends a more personal touch.
 Meals in the form of breakfast and light snacks are generally
available and the check-in/ check-out operations are handled by
limited number of employees or the owners themselves.
 Operation hours are not normally 24 hours which makes the
entrance and the exits of guest limited in the evening.
 Normally affordable and are quieter than others.
Resorts

More than a place to stay due to the different

activities they offer to market.
Recreational facilities and amenities are normally
present for the purpose of enjoining tourists to
come and spend their time in the establishment.
Tourists billeted in these establishments normally
had a recreational purpose in mind.
Motels

A blended term of motor and hotel.

Normally located at intervals in the road where travelers
can check in and rest for a night or longer to break the
monotomy and fatique of travel.
In the Philippines, this type of accommodation often has
a different connotation, grossly misinterpreting what it was
intended for.
The term in the Philippines for which it has similar use is the
same as Inns, Pension Houses or Transient Houses.
Self Catering Accommodations

Apartment, Villas and Cottages are example of

this type.
Generally intended for an extended stay.
The facilities have provision for a working kitchen
and a den, similar to a home, where the travelers
choose to prepare their own meals and fend for
themselves while on this trip.
Medical Accommodations

Sometime known as Medical Hotel or Meditel

People who travel to seek medical treatment
usually seek living amenities that have the comfort
of a hotel.
Includes the hotel-like living conditions with their
companions.
Campus Accommodation

Most commonly known as dormitories in the Philippines

Accommodation facilities designed to cater to students.
Usually stay for an extended period of time.
Generally, clients of this type only needed a place to
sleep with comfortable bed. Often with a roommate or
two, and a place to study.
Camping or Caravan Sites

 A type of accommodation where the tourists take with them and

sets them up in designated areas when they want to be
adventurous and want to commune with nature.
 A tent erected in a camping site.
 Caravan sites provides areas for camper van to be parked and the
families or group of friends may opt to use these facilities as their
home while trying to enjoy their time with nature or while seeking an
adventure.
 A minimal fee is charged for maintenance of facilities and for
keeping areas clean.
Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR)

Very common accommodation facility in the Philippines.

Not commercial in nature where the family and friends
charge the visitor.
They are normally adopted as members of the family for
the duration of their stay.
