 The gap between Smartphones and
Computers has reduced drastically since
past few years.
 There’s almost nothing which you can do
on a Computer but not on a Smartphone.
 The reason being the constant evolution
in mobile technology.
 This gap between Smartphones and
Computers started filling out when
smartphone were born. Smartphones
replaced Cellphones.
 Smartphones with the introduction
of Mobile Operating System or Mobile
OS.

 TouchWiz was the former name
Samsung used for its UI and icons.
 It was originally released on June 4,
2010, for the Galaxy S smartphone.
 Reviewers had criticized Samsung for
including too many features and bloat,
especially in the Galaxy S4 , which
included what many users called a
Samsung "feature creep".
 In the following years, though,
Samsung had incrementally removed
the bloatware and extra features, until
TouchWiz was no longer recognized as
TouchWiz, leading them to rename it.
 Windows 10 Mobile is a mobile
operating system developed
by Microsoft. It was released to
manufacturing on November 20, 2015,
and was made generally available on
March 17, 2016. In October 2017,
Microsoft announced that it would
pause the active development of
Windows 10 Mobile. The last feature
update is the Fall Creators Update.
Future development of Windows 10
Mobile will be limited to maintenance
releases and security patches
 Android "Oreo" (codenamed Android O during
development) is the eighth major release and
the 15th version of the Android mobile
operating system. It was first released as
an alpha quality developer preview in March
2017 and released to the public on August 21,
2017.
 It contains a number of major features,
including notification grouping, picture-in-
picture support for video, performance
improvements and battery usage
optimization, and support
for autofillers, Bluetooth 5, system-level
integration with VoIP apps, wide color gamuts,
and Wi-Fi Aware. Android Oreo also introduces
two major platform features: Android Go – a
software distribution of the operating system
for low-end devices – and support for
implementing a hardware abstraction layer
iPhones X
 iPhone X (Roman numeral "X" pronounced
"ten")is a smartphone designed, developed, and
marketed by Apple Inc. It was
the eleventh generation of the iPhone. It was
announced on September 12, 2017, alongside
the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, at the Steve
Jobs Theater in the Apple Park campus. The
phone was released on November 3, 2017,
marking the iPhone series' tenth anniversary.
 The iPhone X is intended to showcase what
Apple considers technology of the future,
specifically adopting OLED screen technology
for the first time in iPhone history, as well as
using a glass and stainless-steel form factor,
offering wireless charging, and removing the
home button in favor of introducing a new
"bezel-less" design, shrinking the bezels, and
not having a "chin", unlike many Android
phones. It also released a new type of password
authentication called Face ID.
iPhone 8
 The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8
Plus are smartphones designed, developed,
and marketed by Apple Inc. It is
the eleventh generation of the iPhone.
They were announced on September 12,
2017, alongside the higher-end iPhone X, at
the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple
Park campus, and were released on
September 22, 2017, succeeding iPhone 7
and iPhone 7 Plus.
 Besides the addition of a glass back, the
designs of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are largely
similar to that of their predecessors.
Notable changes include the addition
of inductive charging, a faster processor,
and improved cameras and displays. The
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus share most of their
internal hardware with the iPhone X.
iOS 11
 iOS 11 is the eleventh major release of the iOS mobile
operating system developed by Apple Inc., being the
successor to iOS 10. It was announced at the
company's Worldwide Developers Conference on June 5,
2017, and released on September 19, 2017. It was
succeeded by iOS 12 on September 17, 2018.
 Among iOS 11's changes: the lock screen and Notification
Center were combined, allowing all notifications to be
displayed directly on the lock screen. The various pages of
the Control Center were unified, gaining custom settings
and the ability to 3D Touch icons for more options. The App
Store received a visual overhaul to focus on editorial
content and daily highlights. A "Files" file manager app
allowed direct access to files stored locally and in cloud
services. Siri was updated to translate between languages
and use a privacy-minded "on-device learning" technique to
better understand a user's interests and offer suggestions.
The camera had new settings for improved portrait-mode
photos and utilised new encoding technologies to reduce
file sizes on newer devices.
 The Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung Galaxy
S8+ and Samsung Galaxy S8
Active are Android smartphones (with the S8+ being
the phablet smartphone) produced by Samsung
Electronics as the eighth generation of the Samsung
Galaxy S series. The S8 and S8+ were unveiled on 29
March 2017 and directly succeeded the Samsung
Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, with a North American release
on 21 April 2017 and international rollout throughout
April and May. The S8 Active was announced on 8
August 2017 and is exclusive to certain U.S. cellular
carriers.
 The S8 and S8+ contain upgraded hardware and major
design changes over the S7 line, including larger
screens with a taller aspect ratio and curved sides on
both the smaller and larger models, iris and face
recognition, a new suite of virtual assistant features
known as Bixby (along with a new dedicated physical
button for launching the assistant), a shift
from MicroUSB to USB-C charging, and Samsung DeX,
a docking station accessory that allows the phones to
be used with a desktop interface with keyboard and
mouse input support.
 Android Pie, then referred to as "Android P", was
first announced by Google on March 7, 2018, and
the first developer preview was released on the
same day. The second preview, considered beta
quality, was released on May 8, 2018. The third
preview, called Beta 2, was released on June 6,
2018. The fourth preview, called Beta 3, was
released on July 2, 2018. The final beta of
Android P was released on July 25, 2018.
 On August 6, 2018, Google officially announced
the final release of Android 9.0 under the title
"Pie", with the update initially available for
current Google Pixel devices, and releases
for Android One devices and others to follow
"later this year". The Essential Phone was the
first third-party Android device to receive an
update to Pie, notably coming day-and-date with
its final release. The Sony Xperia XZ3 was the
first device with Android Pie pre-installed.
 Windows 10’s April 2018 Update (version 1803) is the
next major release — codename Redstone 4 —
delivering a new wave of features and
improvements. In this guide, we’ll take a closer look
at the new features and changes Microsoft is
introducing for the fifth feature update of Windows
10 releasing in spring 2018 — which carries the
“Windows 10 April 2018 Update” marketing name,
instead of “Spring Creators Update,” which was
rumored previously.
 Windows 10 version 1803 release date: Microsoft has
officially confirmed that the Windows 10 April 2018
Update (version 1803) will release on April 30, 2018,
if you want to update using the Media Creation Tool
and Update Assistant, then on May 8, the update
will appear in Windows Update. (Usually, feature
updates become available starting 2PM Eastern
Time.) Initially, Microsoft will begin rolling out the
update with its new features to select devices that
are known to work with the new version, and then
the rollout will expand to other devices.
 Huawei LiteOS is a lightweight real-time
operating system. It is an open source
operating system licensed under a BSD 3-Clause
license for IoT smart terminals.
Microcontrollers of different architectures such
as ARM (M0/3/4/7, A7/17/53, ARM9/11), x86,
and RISC-V are supported by the project.
Huawei LiteOS is part of Huawei's "1+2+1"
Internet of Things solution and has been
featured in a number of open source
development kits and industry offerings.
 Huawei LiteOS features lightweight, low-power,
fast-response, multi-sensor collaboration,
multi-protocol interconnect connectivity,
enabling IoT terminals to quickly access the
network. Huawei LiteOS will make intelligent
hardware development easier, thereby
accelerating the realization of the
interconnection of all things.
 The latest version is V2.1, which was released
in May 2018.
 iOS 12 is the twelfth and current major
release of the iOS mobile operating system
developed by Apple Inc., being the
successor to iOS 11. It was announced at
the company's Worldwide Developers
Conference on June 4, 2018. It is similar in
aesthetics to iOS 11 but contains numerous
performance and battery life improvements
and security updates, in addition to added
functionalities within native applications. It
was released to the public on September
17, 2018 iOS 12 was introduced by Craig
Federighi at the Apple Worldwide
Developers Conference keynote address on
June 4, 2018. The first developer beta
version was released after the keynote
presentation, with the first public beta
releasing three weeks after on June 25,
2018
 Android Pie introduces a major change to power
management, using algorithms to prioritize
background activity by apps based on long-term
usage patterns and predictions, dividing apps
into "Active", "Working Set" (run often),
"Frequent", "Rare", and "Never". Similar "adaptive
brightness" settings are adjusted automatically
based on detected lighting conditions. Both of
these features were developed in collaboration
with DeepMind.
 The "PrecomputedText" API (also available as a
compatibility library compatible with Android 4.0
and newer) can be used to perform text display
processing in a background thread as opposed to
a UI thread to improve performance. The
fingerprint authentication API has also been
revamped to account for different types of
biometric authentication experiences (including
face scanning and in-screen fingerprint readers).
 The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 (Xiaomi Poco F1
in India) is a smartphone developed
by Xiaomi Inc, announced on 22 August
2018 in New Delhi, India. It is part of
Xiaomi's line of mid-range devices. This
device is available globally in limited
numbers, but in India it has broader
availability.
 The Pocophone F1 runs on a Snapdragon
845 (10 nm) processor. It has Adreno 630 to
handle graphics. It features a 6.18" IPS LCD
capacitive touchscreen screen with
an aspect ratio of 18.7:9 and a resolution
of 1080 x 2246 pixels. The display also has
a wide notch at the top. There is also the
Gorilla Glass protection but exact version
was not confirmed.
 The Samsung Galaxy Gear is
a smartwatch produced by Samsung
Electronics in the Samsung Gear family of
devices. Unveiled during a Samsung
Unpacked event in Berlin, Germany on
September 4, 2013, the device serves as a
companion for all Samsung
Galaxy smartphones and tablets which run
Android 4.3 or newer; it was released on
September 25, 2013. Originally released as
an Android-based device, Samsung replaced
the operating system with Tizen through the
May 2014 software update.
 The Gear's successor, the Gear 2, was
released on April 11, 2014.
 Huawei has officially confirmed that it
will unveil the new version of its
operating system i.e. the EMUI
9.0software at IFA 2018 scheduled from
31 August to 5 September in Berlin. The
Chinese smartphone giant also confirmed
that the EMUI 9.0 update will be based
on Android 9.0 Pie. Google announced
the Android 9 Pie update earlier this
month and the Pixel phones as well as
Google partnered OEM devices have
already started receiving the update via
OTA
 Windows Update customers were
recently affected by a network
infrastructure event on January 29,
2019 (21:00 UTC), caused by an external
DNS service provider’s global outage. A
software update to the external
provider’s DNS servers resulted in the
distribution of corrupted DNS records
that affected connectivity to the
Windows Update service. The DNS
records were restored by January 30,
2019 (00:10 UTC), and the majority of
local Internet Service Providers (ISP)
have refreshed their DNS servers and
customer services have been restored.
