How to Create Family

Table in Creo 3.0

Importance of creating family table

Usage of creating Family Tables:

• To create number of parts without spending much effort by adjusting the required or changing dimensions.
• Easy to make generic parts as well specified dimensional parts.
• Can create a bunch of parts by using this option.
• The individual parts are created by its own.
• Drafting time can be reduced for designers.
• Number of pages can be reduced in drafting.

Different Steps involved in creating Family
Tables

• Open Creo 3.0


• Select the working Directory
• Part Modelling
• Family Table Option
• Selecting the dimensions from the model
• Add Rows/Columns for additional dimensions
• Verify the selected dimensions are correct.
• Finish the Family Table dialogue box.

Crate model as per the drawing 46.220.302 Rev 12

• Use Revolve option to sketch the outline for the model.


• Sketch the outline as per the dimension given in the drawing (Figure 1.1).
• Click once the sketching is completed.
• The final output will be like as the figure 1.2

Select the Family Table Option
• Go to Tools tab from the ribbon which is above the Graphical User interface (GUI)
• Select the Family Table Option to create a new table.

Another way to locate the Family Table Option
• Click on the search box which is located on the Top-Right.
• Type “Family”, and the option will be listed below.
• Move the cursor or place the cursor on that and it will show or direct to the option.

• The Family Table Dialog box shown in figure 1.5.
• The box contain options to add rows (for adding number of parts) & columns (for adding number of dimensions).
• The required changing dimensions can be added by inserting new column from the below dialog box.
• Finally, the option verify is used to verify the selected dimensions are correct.

Rename as per the given P/N

• Click on insert Column from Family Table and the below table will appear.
• Double click on the 3D model and it will show all the dimensions.
• Select the required dimensions to be added in the Family Table.
• The figure 1.6, shows the selected dimensions from the 3D model.
• Click “OK”

• The Final Family table will shown as per the figure 1.7
• Change the Instance Name as per the P/N or requirement.
• Type the dimensions “d2” & “d1” as shown “C” & “D” from the drawing

Enter the required date.

• Click verify the option to validate the dimensions for change.

“Verify” option.

• The Verify Tree shows the status of the dimensions whether it is verified or not.
• Click VERIFY to make it verified.

• The status will be shown “Success”, Once the dimensions are verified fully.
• The status will be shown “Failure”, If any dimensions are not verified.

• Save the part (.prt) file. And close the current window.
• Click open from the Quick Access Tool bar. Top-Left.
• Locate the folder and the generic model will be available.
• Open the Model by double clicking on it.

• The Family part model will be shown as Figure 1.12.
• Select the appropriate P/N to open the model.
