INTRODUCTION TO ART CULTURE
• Pakistani art and craft is what that shows the culture of our country.
• There are four provinces in Pakistan; Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Baluchistan.
• Punjab is famous for pottery, truck art, chiniot, textile, carpet weaving, etc.
• Sindh has a reputation for ajraks, pottery, leatherwork, carpets, textiles
and silk cloths which, in design and finish, are matchless.
• KPK is famous for crafts. Delicate and soft jobs are left to women, so mostly
the arts and crafts are produced by women.
• Balochi embroidery is one of the most popular arts and crafts. Handicrafts
are mostly common.
HISTORY OF ART CULTURE
• Pakistanis have a long standing tradition of arts
and crafts dating back to pre-partition days and
even as far back as the Indus Civilization.
• Pakistan is a land of many cultures and all these
cultures bring their cultural heritage to art,
leading to the creation of an exceptionally wide
array of stunning masterpieces.
• From calligraphy to pottery, weaving to crafting
– Pakistani arts and crafts stand out for their
intricate craftsmanship and cultural value.
WALL CALLIGRAPHY
• Wall calligraphy is a very
famous art of carving Arabic
wordings from Quran on the
walls of Mosques.
• It holds a religious and social
importance in Pakistan.
• It can be seen in Mosques
around Pakistan.
OIL PAINTING
• Oil Painting has been around
for a long time.
• Although somewhat modern,
oil painting has grown in
stature over the years.
• Arabic calligraphy in oil is
very popular as well.
HANDICRAFTS
• Khussa chappal and Bangles are some
beautiful handicrafts of Pakistan that
women wear on weddings.
• Khussa chappal is a type of footwear on
which stones and threads are stitched.
• Bangles are the jewelry made of glass. They
are colorful and reflect Pakistani culture.
They are famous in Hyedrabad.
WOOD CRAFTING
• Wood Crafting has been part of
Pakistan’s culture from the start.
• This is also known as Chiniot.
• Ancient Muslim and Mughal
heritage is quite visible in this art
form.
TRUCK ART
• Truck Art is a popular form
of art in Pakistan.
• It has eye-catching colors and
unique displays.
• It has famous personalities
painted on the back of the
truck.
SALT LAMPS
• Salt Lamps are made from large
salt crystals.
• The rock salt crystals are carved
to create amazing sculptures.
• These sculptures are made in
Punjab as Khewra mine in
Jehlum being the center for the
mining of rock salt in Pakistan.
KASHMIRI SHAWLS
• Kashmiri Shawls are mostly
made from Pashmina and are
known across the world for
being the finest.
• The shawl is characterized by
the glowing harmony,
brilliance, depth, and
enduring qualities of its colors.
BLUE GLAZED POTTERY
• Blue glazed pottery is mainly
influenced by Persian Art.
• It is carried out in Multan an
some areas of Sindh and used
for decoration.
SINDHI AJRAK
• Ajrak is a type of cloth that
Sindhi people are used to wear
with Sindhi topi as a part of
their culture.
• Outstanding block printing is
done that gives a cultural look.
• With the passage of time, ajrak
has become the symbol of Sindhi
traditions and culture.
SINDHI TOPI
• Sindhi topi or cap is worn by
people of Sindh. The Saraiki and
Balochi people also wear it.
• Accompanied with ajrak, Sindhi
topi is referred as an important
part of the Sindhi culture.
• It is also taken as a sign of
Sindhi nationalism.
