LEARNING OUTCOME 1 (Comparison of domestic
and an international hotel)
 INTRODUCTION
Hospitality is the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of
guests ,visitors or strangers . The word ‘Hospitality’ is derived from the
Latin word ‘hospes’ ,meaning ‘host guest, or stranger’. Hospitality can
be defined as taking care of your guest and anticipating their needs,
and this comes under service industry which includes Tourism,
transportation or lodging including Hotels, cruise liners, airline,
railways etc.
The hotel industry is one of the oldest industries in the world. It has
developed and progressed with the travel and tourism. So in this
power point I am going to compare an International and a Domestic
hotel.
 THE DOMESTIC HOTEL

• THE AMBASSADOR HOTEL : The Ambassador

hotel group of hotel is one of the prestigious names in
the hotel industry. It was established in 1939 in Mumbai
this hotel shares a lot of history that is reflected in its
interiors with its antiques, collectibles and designs
which is seen nowhere else and transforms you into the
world of fantasy and culture .
 ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Mr . Sanjay Narang is the founder of The Ambassador Hotel ,

he studied hotel management at Cornell University , USA
after which he returned to India in 1985 to head
Ambassador sky chef.
 ABOUT THE HOTEL
The Ambassador Hotel of Mumbai is located in Churchgate
near Marine Drive which is also known as ‘QUEENS
NECKLACE’.
FACILITIES PROVIDED BY THE HOTEL: The
Ambassador hotel is also known for its excellent
facilities such as front desk, free internet, travel
assistance, business services, room services, laundry,
coffee shop/ resturant ,bar/lounge ,spa , meals.

1. FLAVOURS CAFE: This hotel serves north Indian,

continental ,sea food and it gives 24 hours service.

1. THE SOCIETY RESTAURANT: This hotel which serves

north Indian ,continental , desserts ,Indian , sea food
cuisine.

• The Ambassador hotel has got four types of rooms .
1. DELUXE ROOM: This is the base category room which
offers twin and queen size bed option. The area of this
room is 280sq.ft, queen bed/twin bed, air conditioning,
free wifi, 43 inch Led TV, mini bar, coffee and tea maker,
bottled water (complimentary), wardrobe, 24 hours room
service.
2. EXCECUTIVE ROOM: This room has got a King size
bed or Twin bed option with the area of 320sq.ft. and same
services as mentioned above.
3. JUNIOR SUITE : This is a bigger room with a Heritage
touch and it is of 420sq.ft. with the additional services
such as complimentary breakfast and bathrobe.
4. PRESIDENTIAL SUITE : This room is a combination
of heritage style and modern amenities ,the presidential
suite is the best offering of The Ambassador Mumbai. It
has area of 1006sq.ft. with the services mentioned prior.

• THE GRAND HYATT HOTEL: This hotels foundation
goes back to 1957 when the entrepreneur Jay Pritzkar
purchased the original Hyatt House Motel. By September
2016 Hyatt became global hospitality company with 13
brands and more than 600 properties in more than 50
countries. It is one of the worlds best hospitality brand.
 ABOUT THE FOUNDER

The founders of Hyatt are Jack D Crouch and Hyatt Von

Dehn. Jack was an American entrepreneur and
organizer. Von Dehn built what the worlds first airport
hotel at Los Angeles International airport in 1953.
 ABOUT THE HOTEL
The Grand Hyatt of Mumbai is located in Santacruz
east. It was opened in Mumbai in year 2004. It is
especially known for the facilities provided to the
guests such as 24 hour room service, 24 hour manager
on duty, 24 hour concierge, baby siting, 24 hour
laundry service, dinning services, transport facility,
parking, gym, 2 outdoor Swimming pools and sun desk,
fitness centre etc.

a typical Chinese cuisine.

Japanese, Lebancse mezze.

bed with the same facilities mentioned earlier.
