‘‘Optimization of CI Engine Performance with Multi

Biodiesel Blend using Taguchi and Multi-Regression

Analysis”
INTRODUCTION
Aim
The aim of this project is to optimize the performance of the CI engine by using
multi –biodiesel blend. Checking the performance by using different proportions
of blends of Palm and jathropha
Objectives

1. To study the scope of biodiesel as an alternative fuel.

2. To select suitable biodiesel for CI Engine for checking its

Performance.

3. To predict the response under optimum conditions.

4. To run the confirmation test for validation.

Effect of operating parameters on Specific Fuel Consumption=100% load
Effect of operating parameters on Brake Thermal Efficiency: 100%Load
Effect of operating parameters on Mechanical efficiency =100%
ADVANTAGES
1.Taguchi's method for experimental design is straightforward and easy to apply
to many engineering situations.

2.Biodiesel blends thermal efficiency is very close to the pure diesel

3. Specific Fuel Consumption is also reduces

4.Emission levels of the engine is also reduces

CONCLUSIONS

1.Taguchi method emphasizes a mean performance characteristic value

2.We can use up to 40% blend of Jothropha & Palm blend with pure Diesel.

3.Multiple Regression analysis method suitable for data observation analysis

4.As the blend % increases the Thermal Efficiency% increases

5.As the % of blend increases Mech. Efficiency% Decreases

6.As the % of blend increases the SFC(Kg/KWhr) also decreases

7. As the % of blend increases the Emission of the NOx ,HC,CO2,CO also reduces
