MECHANICS
- The teacher will be flashing
the slides which consist a different
baked products with corresponding
question about the steps in bread
making and the students will only
choose one to be answered.
WHO AM I?
LET’S DO IT TOGETHER
In this activity, students will find their partner
and they will interview each other regarding on the
following questions below. The teacher will only give
5 minutes to the students to finish their activity. After
5 minutes the teacher will call 3 partners who will
share their answer in front of the class.
• In your own words, what is baking?
• Do you experience baking different baked
products?
• What products do you usually bake?
• What are your positive experiences in baking?
MESSAGE RELAY
• The students will be grouped into 3.
• The teacher will be flashing a jumbled word and the
students will arranged it by group as fast as they can. Also
the teacher will be posting a jumbled sentence that
students are going to arrange that represents the meaning
of the jumbled word.
• After the students arranged the word and the sentence,
each group will form a straight line and the first student will
pass the message to the next student until it reach the last
student. The last student will be the one who will recite the
message in front of the class. The first group who can
arrange and recite correctly the word and its meaning will
get the highest score.

• One of the limitations of home
baking is the presence of oven.
• There are products that we
make at home that can be
classified as baked products
even though it is not cooked in
an oven.
• Pancakes and waffles are examples
of quick breads. Waffle biscuits or
waffle cones can be made using a
waffle griddle or ordinary skillet.
There are substitutes for the
conventional gas or electric ovens.
• Portable ovens (also called
camp ovens) that are placed on
top of a regular stove available
at a relatively inexpensive price.
Another alternative to the
conventional oven is the Dutch oven. The
Dutch oven is a cast-iron casserole cooking
pot. Locally, the kaldero(rice pot) and kawali
(frying pan/wok) are cast-iron materials that
can function like the Dutch oven. With a
tight lid and good thickness, it can be used
for baking.
BENEFITS OF HOME BAKING
• Home baking has a number of benefits for
the individual and the family. It can
contribute to the well being of the family in
the following ways.
1. Freshly Baked products are a treat
- There is nothing like the taste and
aroma of freshly baked breads. The aroma of
freshly baked bread is associated with warm,
homey feelings.
2. More nutritious ingredients can be used
- When you make your own product, you
have control over the recipe and the
ingredients.
3. Products are additive free
- Baked products for home consumption
do not use additives because it is often
consumed quickly.
4. It develops family bonding
- Baking can become a family activity
where small children can do easy tasks like
shaping cookies or pouring butters into
muffin pans.
5. It provides practice to improve baking
skills
- Practice makes perfect; the more
baking you do at home, the more skillful you
can become.

• The teacher will be giving a clay for each group
and the students will think of any baked product that
they think they can bake at home through the use of
available resources. Students will imagine that they
are like a family that bakes together at home. After
that each group will answer the sheet of paper to be
given by the teacher which entitled “OUR BAKING
ADVENTURE”. Students will only have 5 minutes to
finish their activity. After 5 minutes each group will
present their activity in front of the class.
