REVIEW OF HIGHWAY DESIGN / DRAWINGS & DATA

AT SITE
CHECKING THE SIZE OF PLAN & PROFILE
DRAWINGS:

• As per Clause 17.4 of IRC: SP: 19 – 2001,


Design Drawings shall be prepared in A2 size.
SUBMISSION OF DESIGN DRAWINGS by the
EPC CONTRACTOR:

• As per Clause 10.2.4 a) of Volume – I of EPC


Agreement, Contractor shall prepare all design
drawings and submit to the Authority’s Engineer
for his Comments / Observations for execution
of Project Highway.
SIGNATURE & STAMP OF DESIGN
DIRECTOR OF EPC CONTRACTOR:

• Check the signature with stamp of contractor’s


Design Director on each design drawing and
should be certified by the Proof & safety
consultant as per Article - 10.
CHECK FOR 2/4/6 - LANE CARRIAGEWAYS
IN THE PROJECT HIGHWAY:

• As per Schedule – B, where the stretches shall be


constructed to 2/4/6 - lane carriageway.
CHECKING THE LOCATIONS OF SERVICE
ROAD:

• Plan & Profile submitted by the EPC Contractor


shall be checked with Clause 2.8 of Annex – I
Schedule – B of Volume – I of EPC Agreement
for stretches / locations of service road to be
developed in the Project Highway.
CHECKING OF ROW:

• Proposed ROW shall be checked as per


Annexure – II of Schedule – A of EPC
Agreement.

• Site constraints shall be noted down especially


where provision of service roads & radius less
than 400 m for horizontal curve.
CHECKING OF JUNCTIONS LOCATION:

• All the Major & Minor junctions shall be verified


in the Plan & Profile as per Clause 2.11 (a) of
Schedule – B of EPC Agreement.

• Prepare a statement of level difference between


existing access road and Proposed FRL at junction
location. Accordingly safety measures for junction
development shall be considered.
CHECKING OF EXTREME CUTTING AND
EXTREME FILLING LOCATIONS FOR ROAD
CONSTRUCTION:

• Where the locations are falling in extreme cutting


and extreme falling shall be verified at site.
• If any of these stretches are passing through
habitation areas or junction developments or
service road construction shall be checked for
further correctness in Project P&P.
INSPECTION AT SHARP CURVE LOCATIONS:

• Locations shall be inspected where horizontal


curve radius is less than 400 m. List out
encroaches or encumbrances at inner side to the
curve for further any improvements of
geometrics.
INSPECTION AT ACCIDENT PRONE AREA
LOCATIONS:

• Ask the Contractor for past accident record which


is available with local police station.
• Enquire the accident prone areas with local
public.
• Inspect at accident prone areas and enquire the
reasons for accidents with local public. It is
provision for future safety measures.
INSPECTION OF BUS BAY LOCATIONS:

• All Bus Bay locations shall be verified in the Plan


& Profile as per Clause 2. h) of Annex –I of
Schedule – C of EPC Agreement.

• Justification of Bus Bays serviceability shall be


prepared for future remedies
INSPECTION OF TRUCK LAY-BYES
LOCATION:

• All Truck lay-byes locations shall be verified in the


Plan & Profile as per Clause 2. g) of Annex –I of
Schedule – C of EPC Agreement.

• Changes of locations with EPC Agreement shall


be informed to the Competent authority for future
remedies.
INSPECTION OF TOLL PLAZA LOCATIONS:

• All Toll Plaza locations shall be verified in the Plan


& Profile as per Clause 2. a) of Annex –I of
Schedule – C of EPC Agreement.

• Changes of locations with EPC Agreement shall


be informed to the Competent authority for future
remedies.
CHECKING THE CORRELATION BETWEEN
PLAN & PROFILE AND STRUCTURES:

• FRLs of P&P shall be checked with structure deck


slab level or top level of structure.
• For HP culverts, minimum cushion about 0.6 m
shall be assured.
• Deviations from the above criteria shall be
informed to the Competent authority for future
remedies.
INSPECTION OF HFL LOCATIONS:

• Ask the Contractor to submit past authenticated


HFL data.

• Inspect HFL levels in case doubt.

• Deviations shall be informed to the Competent


authority for remedies.
