Introduction

 The project is based on the idea that power demands will

always increase and we need an uninterrupted power supply.
 Since every source of electricity has its limitations as far as
their availability is concerned.
 Microprocessor based programming is used to shift between
different sources of electricity (mains, inverter, solar, wind).
Objective

 The main objective of this project is to provide uninterrupted

power supply to a load, by selecting the supply from any
source out of 4 such as mains, inverter, wind and solar
automatically in the absence of any of the source.
 When a source, say mains fails the supply automatically shits
to next priority source (say inverter.)

Solar supply is available

Solar fails
Supply shifts to inverter power

Inverter fails

If solar Yes

No
Supply shifts to main supply

If mains fail

if solar Yes

Supply shifts to wind & stays at
it until comes back

Applications

1. This system could be used in that places where we have

different sources of supply such as solar ,mains and wind.
2. This system could be used in industries for supplying
uninterruptable power supply to the industrial machines.
3. This system could be used in educational institutes and
hospitals for supplying UPS to equipments.
Advantages

1. The system is more compact and reliable.

2. Power generation is doubled.
3. Its easy to implement.
4. It reduces the power demand.
5. Uninterrupted power supply.
Disadvantages

1. Installation cost is high (solar panels).

2. Solar power is not available during night.
Future scope

 The future work primarily focuses on increasing the number of

sources to increase the reliability of the system and provide
uninterrupted power supply to the load all the time. New
sources will be selected according to their cost of
implementation and availability during a particular season.
More automation via micro controller can be provided to
minimize noise issues and sparking in changeover from one to
another source .
 The project can be further enhanced by using GSM , other
sources like wind power and also taking into consideration
using the best possible power whose cost remains lowest at
that moment.
 Further we can provide scheduling i.e some specific timming
to all the sources of supply by further programming our
arduino in C .
Conclusion

 The outline of this project is the selection of supply from

mains, inverter, solar and wind automatically using micro
controller concept. The significance of this project is in the
various and wide spaces of application such as schools,
hospitals, manufacturing industries and mining industries
where a continuous supply of power is vital.
