RIZAL LAW

• Republic Act 1425, commonly known as the Rizal law


• Authored by Sen. Claro M. Recto and signed into law on June
12, 1956 and effective on August 16, 1956
• Rizal course as a requirement for graduation in all non-degree
and degree courses in the tertiary education
• Courses on the life, works and writings of Jose P. Rizal
particularly his novels: Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo

• Aims:
– Recognize the relevance of Rizal’s ideals, thoughts, teachings and live-
values to present conditions in the community and the country
– Develop an understanding and appreciation of the qualities, behavior,
and character of Rizal, as well as his thoughts and ideas, and thus
foster the development of moral character, personal discipline and
citizenship
• Rizal was the founder of the Filipino nationality.
• Architect of the Filipino nation.
• Virtue is the only foundation of national greatness
• Principles and ideals for which Rizal stood and died.
• That we may gain incorruptible confidence, direction,
courage, and determination in order that we may
continue forward our never-ending pilgrimage to a
full, greater and more abundant life.
