INTRODUCTION:
"A green building is one which uses less water, optimises energy efficiency, conserves
natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier spaces
for occupants, as compared to a conventional building.“
Affordable, climate resilient and sustainable buildings are the need of the hour.
Urbanisation has been the most prominent global trend of the last decade. The rapid growth
of cities in the developing world, coupled with increasing rural to urban migration, has led
to a boom in mega-cities. By 2030, the number of mega cities will increase to 41 and out of
these, 7 will be in India.1 It is expected that 40% of India population will be urban by 2030,
as against 30% currently. This is going to create a huge demand for infrastructure including
housing. The shortage of urban housing stood at 18.8 million units in 2012 and is expected
to grow with a CAGR of 6.6% to 34.1 million units by 2022

Aim:
To study the green building design techniques for indian housing.
To promote sustainable way of living, by conserving energy by various ways like
providing suitable glazing, solar panels, framing, etc.
To evaluate performance and provide solutions for enhanced energy and water
efficiencies, increased thermal & visual comfort and social integration
OBJECTIVES:
• Attaining higher levels of sustainability with better livability.
• Reduction in environmental impact of construction
• Innovation in housing and quality of life.
• To promote the use of renewable energy technologies and enable energy
generation on site.
• The design aims at providing an eco-friendly place, which is not only healthy
• for its occupants and environment but also increasing the awareness.
